Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for configuring a virtual machine instance accessed over a publically routable network address to host intranet applications. A virtual (or “dummy”) interface on the virtual machine instance is assigned an IP address that is inaccessible from the public interface. An application executed on the virtual machine instance is bound to a port on the network address assigned to this dummy interface. A virtual private network server assigns client's IP addresses that can be routed to the dummy interface. When a client computing system connects to the VPN server over the virtual machine instance's public interface, the client forwards traffic destined for the dummy interface's inaccessible network over the VPN connection.

Abstract: A prescription management system receives prescription information and manages containers filled with the prescription. The prescription is stored in the container and the container is attached to a tracking device storing prescription information. The tracking device is managed by the prescription management system. The tracking device is self-powered and activates an indicator when it receives a request from the prescription management system identifying the tracking device. The indicator permits a user, such as a pharmacist, to locate a desired prescription.

Abstract: A method and system for single sign-on session management. Functions of session management and client log-in, normally handled by separate system servers, are incorporated as plug-in modules on individual web content servers. In this manner, network traffic to grant and validate client user credentials is reduced or minimized.

Abstract: Categorization of data may be performed using rule-based data categorization. Rules may be used to categorize the data into a limited number of categories for a temporary, ad hoc, or updatable process. The rules may be validated to make sure the rules are not ambiguous, contradictory, unattainable, or otherwise ineffective. The rules may include a priority value which may be used as a tie breaker when more than one rule applies to a record. To implement the rules, a lookup flow may be generated to enable rapid or quick traversal of applicable rules for a particular lookup while bypassing at least a portion of the rules. In some embodiments, a record (e.g., an item, etc.) may be categorized during a transaction process to determine a tax classification, a promotion, or another type of classification, which may then be used to complete the transaction.

Abstract: A method for transaction verification scoring includes obtaining, from a distributed computing system of distributed computing systems distributed throughout a computing network, a transaction description describing a financial transaction with a vendor, obtaining, from the distributed computing systems, transaction records of potential corroborators, and reconciling, with the financial transaction, the transaction records to obtain at least one matching transaction record of at least one corroborator, in the potential corroborators, to the financial transaction. The method further includes scoring the transaction description based on a function of each of the at least one corroborator to the financial transaction to obtain a verification score, and presenting, on a display device, a recommendation of the vendor to a consumer based on the verification score.

The method further involves receiving, over a wireless network by the portable computing device, a software application and a system identifier of the point-of-sale display. The system identifier to automatically configure the software application to control the at least one media playback device at the discovered point-of-sale display. The method further involves joining the software application on the portable computing device to the point-of-sale display using the system identifier. The method further involves sending from the portable computing device via the configured software application one or more commands to control the at least one media playback device.

Abstract: A system and method for automatically managing the allocation of reservation inventory for an individual POS terminal in a distributed reservation system having multiple POS terminals. Inventory allocation for an event for the individual POS terminal is calculated as a function of total reservation capacity for the event, the allocation and use of reservation inventory at the individual POS terminal, and/or the allocation and use of reservation inventory at other POS terminals in the reservation system. All POS terminals in the reservation system periodically share a token with one another to get updated inventory status for use in calculating inventory allocations.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method is disclosed for storing and presenting warranties to one or more customers. Within the method, a computer system may store at least one warranty. Subsequently, a point-of-sale system forming part of the computer system may initiate a point-of-sale transaction involving a customer. The computer system may then determine that a first product forming part of the point-of-sale transaction corresponds to a first warranty of the least one warranty and offer to display the first warranty. In response to the offer, the computer system may receive a request to display the first warranty from a computing device corresponding to the customer. Accordingly, the computer system may present the first warranty to the customer via the computing device.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure provide a reader device for managing transactions using financial instruments with encrypted data storage devices, such as integrated circuit cards (ICC). In some implementations, a reader device of the subject technology can be configured to access the encrypted information in an ICC via an index or table of keys stored on a host device. In operation, upon detecting an ICC, the reader device can obtain application or protocol information for the ICC and concurrently pre-fetch keys from the host device, so that the pre-fetched keys are received prior to or concurrently with the application or protocol information. In the event that the pre-fetch fails to provide the keys needed for the application or protocol of the ICC, the reader device can make a specific request for the exact keys needed for the application or protocol.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for reprinting a paper copy of a receipt at a physical store location. The receipt printing may be based off of an electronic receipt. A customer may provide receipt identification to a returns associate at a POS terminal in a store location. Information may be sent to a server or computer system to request that a receipt be reprinted. The server may then process the request and transmit receipt information to the POS terminal where a paper copy of the receipt is printed for the returns associate. A modified receipt may be printed which includes receipt information for additional transactions. A modified receipt may be printed which includes additional information regarding items on the receipt.

Abstract: Selecting ecosystem features for inclusion in operational tiers includes taking a reference implementation of a specific application adapted to operate in a multi-domain computing ecosystem and, using a computer, breaking down the reference implementation into service related components, determining ecosystem participants for the reference implementation, and using a feature allocation engine to configure operational features that enable one of the service related components.
