Abstract: A method for allocating resources for a downlink control channel by a base station in a wireless communication system is disclosed. Specifically, the method comprises the steps of: mapping resource elements to resource element groups for each of resource blocks; forming control channel elements by using a predetermined number of resource element groups from among the resource element groups; and allocating control channel elements of a number corresponding to an aggregation level of the downlink control channel as resources for the downlink control channel, wherein the number of available resource elements included in each of the resource element groups or the number of available resource elements included in each of the control channel elements of a number corresponding to the aggregation level is uniform.

  • Patent number: 9363385
Abstract: A telephone network access device switchable between a VOIP service and a PSTN service includes an RJ-11 port, a voice splitter, a first relay, a second relay, a SLIC chip, a CPU, and a ring detection unit. The ring detection unit outputs a first switch signal in response to detecting a ring signal of a PSTN communication. The second relay connects the telephone to the VOIP network in response to a power on event. The CPU controls the first relay and the second relay to connect the telephone to the PSTN network in response to the CPU receiving the first switch signal, and controls the second relay to reconnect the telephone to the VOIP network when the PSTN communication ends.

  • Patent number: 9363152
Abstract: Passive monitoring of a large-scale network using multiple tiers of ordinary network switches, as opposed to purpose-built network monitoring hardware, is accomplished by initially providing network communications to an initial tier of monitoring switches, either from existing switches that copy frames and provide them to the monitoring switches, or from network taps to which the monitoring switches are connected. The initial tier of monitoring switches comprises flow tables that initially simply drop all frames provided to those switches and, subsequently, when specific network issues arise, they are modified to include a specification particular frame criteria whose frames are either forwarded to subsequent tiers of monitoring switches, or statistics regarding those frames are collected. Subsequent tiers of monitoring switches receive frames from the initial tier and direct them to one or more appropriate analysis computing devices.

  • Patent number: 9345020
Abstract: Disclosed is a base station in which the frequency usage efficiency can be improved when the communication bandwidths are asymmetric in the uplink line and the downlink line. A base station can communicate by using a plurality of downlink unit bands and a smaller number of uplink unit bands. A control unit allocates uplink resource allocation information and downlink resource allocation information to a PDCCH which is arranged in each of the plurality of downlink unit bands, and allocates a response signal to the uplink line data to a PHICH which is arranged in the same number of downlink unit bands from the plurality of downlink unit bands as there are uplink unit bands. A transmit RF unit transmits the resource allocation information or the response signal.

  • Patent number: 9332561
Abstract: A hybrid communication system estimates a quality of service (QoS) for a plurality of session channels available to couple a first device on a first network with a second device on a second network. A first session channel is selected, from the plurality of session channels, that has a highest estimated QoS of all the plurality of session channels over a first time interval. The devices are instructed to establish a hybrid media session using the first session channel. During the hybrid media session the estimated QoS for the plurality of session channels is monitored. Responsive to the monitoring, a second session channel is selected, from the plurality of session channels, that has a highest estimated QoS of all the plurality of session channels over a second time interval. Responsive to the selecting, the devices are instructed establish the hybrid media session using the second session channel.

  • Patent number: 9332475
Abstract: System(s) and method(s) are provided for handover of a mobile terminal in a wireless communication system. Handoff resolution relies on both a downlink channel quality indication between a serving base station and the mobile terminal, and uplink channel quality indications amongst the terminal and a measurement set of target base stations. To generate UL channel quality indicators, the mobile station conveys a narrowband or broadband sounding reference signal, and serving and target base stations measure UL and DL performance metrics (e.g., RSRP, RSSI, or RSOT). In backward handover, UL channel state information from target cells is received at the serving base station through backhaul communication, and handoff is resolved based on both UL and DL quality reports. In forward handover, the set of UL quality reports are conveyed to the mobile station to determine a target cell for handoff.

  • Patent number: 9313501
Abstract: Various new and non-obvious apparatus and methods for using frame caching to improve packet loss recovery are disclosed. One of the disclosed embodiments is a method for using periodical and synchronized frame caching within an encoder and its corresponding decoder. When the decoder discovers packet loss, it informs the encoder which then generates a frame based on one of the shared frames stored at both the encoder and the decoder. When the decoder receives this generated frame it can decode it using its locally cached frame.

  • Patent number: 9225672
Abstract: Methods and systems for packet grouping in a network are provided. A packet is received at a receive segment of a port of a first network device for transmission to a destination port of a second network device. The port determines if the packet is a start packet of a packet sequence. When the packet is not the start packet of the packet sequence, the port determines whether the packet has a destination that is the same as a destination of a last prior packet. When the packet is for the same destination, a grouping count is increased and the packet priority is elevated.
