  • Patent number: 11669135
Abstract: A voltage stacked system that includes a stack of near threshold computing (NTC) chips for achieving inter-chip communication with simple wires as interconnections is disclosed. The chips include at least two secondary supply voltages and at least a secondary ground voltage electrically coupled to the stack of the chips arranged in series. The secondary supply and ground voltages are tapped in a predefined sequence at one or more predefined access points in the stack to generate two versions of an internal voltage within each of the chips. Each of the two versions of the internal voltage is a voltage difference between respective supply voltages and ground voltages, and the two have a set voltage shift such that the chips in the stack have supply voltages overlapping with those in the neighboring chips. Optionally, the two voltages are boosted to further higher voltages as needed using charge pumps.

  • Patent number: 11617281
Abstract: A rack adapted for receiving a component, a system including the rack and the component and a method of delivering power to the component mounted in the rack are disclosed. The rack comprises a backplane, a power panel, and a main controller. Each stage of the backplane includes a backplane power connector and a backplane data connector that are respectively connectable to a component power connector and to a component data connector when the component is inserted in the backplane stage. The main controller detects an insertion of the component in a given backplane stage by receiving a signal emitted by the backplane data connector of that backplane stage, acquires a set of power parameters of the component, and causes the power panel to provide power to the backplane power connector of that backplane stage according to the set of power parameters of the component.

  • Patent number: 11614769
Abstract: Consensus protocols for asynchronous networks are usually complex and inefficient, leading practical systems to rely on synchronous protocols. The invention proposes an approach to simplify asynchronous consensus by building it atop a novel threshold logical clock abstraction, allowing the consensus protocol to operate in “virtual synchrony.” Leveraging accountable state machine techniques to detect and suppress Byzantine nodes, and verifiable secret sharing for random leader election, we obtain simple and efficient protocols for asynchronous Byzantine consensus.

  • Patent number: 11592895
Abstract: Systems and methods for improving power efficiency of electronic systems are disclosed. An intelligent voltage regulator module (VRM) can self-regulate the output power provided to one or more components of an electronic system. For example, output voltage to a component can be increased when more computational power is needed or lowered when appropriate. The intelligent VRM can regulate the output power, for instance, based on one or more of usage or activity of the component. In some cases, the intelligent VRM can independently regulate the output power without input from a host device or override one or more output power parameters. Adjustment of the output power can be performed using machine learning (ML).

  • Patent number: 11579679
Abstract: Computing devices and methods for determining opening and closing of touch sensitive interfaces are disclosed. In one example, a computing device comprises a touch screen display on a first substrate that is rotatably coupled to a second substrate that includes a trackpad. A trackpad identification signal transmitted by the trackpad is received at the touch screen display, and a touch screen identification signal transmitted by the touch screen is received at the trackpad. If the trackpad identification signal matches a trackpad identification key and the touch screen identification signal matches a touch screen identification key, then an energy level of one or both signals is compared to an energy level threshold. Based at least in part on the comparison of the energy level to the threshold, a power state transition is initiated.

  • Patent number: 11568219
Abstract: Technologies are described for multiple accelerators for a neural network, and methods thereof. In an example implementation, a neural network can be mapped to a system comprising a control unit and multiple accelerators, where the controller unit controls each accelerator's behavior, sends data to and receives data from each accelerator through the interconnections. Sub-networks may be created by grouping several network layers or dividing a network layer into multiple sub-layers depending on data to be processed and memory capacity of each accelerator. Accelerators have internal storage, thus, do not require external memory.

  • Patent number: 11544615
Abstract: Managing runtime qubit allocation for executing quantum services is disclosed. In one example, a processor device of a quantum computing system implements a quantum backoff service (QBS) that enables safe runtime qubit allocation for executing quantum services. The QBS receives a request from a quantum service scheduler for allocation of one or more qubits for an executing quantum service. Upon receiving the request for allocation, the QBS determines whether the one or more qubits are unavailable for execution. If the QBS determines that the one or more qubits are unavailable for allocation, the QBS places the executing quantum service into a sleep state. The QBS in some examples may subsequently receive an indication that the one or more qubits have become available for allocation. The QBS then restores the executing quantum service into an executing state and allocates the one or more qubits for the executing quantum service.

  • Patent number: 11513812
Abstract: Many mobile devices are used for documenting different scenarios that are encountered by the users as they go about their daily lives. In many situations, a mobile device may be used to document the scenario. This data may be of significant forensic interest to an investigator. In many situations, the owner of the phone may be willing to provide the investigator access to this data (through a documented consent agreement). Such consent is usually contingent upon the fact that not all the data available on the phone may be extracted for analysis, either due to privacy concerns or due to personal reasons. Courts have also opined in several cases that investigators must limit data extracted, so as to focus on only “relevant information” for the investigation at hand. Thus, only selective (or filtered) data should be extracted as per the consent available from the witness/victim (user). Described herein is the design and implementation of such a targeted data extraction system (TDES) for mobile devices.

  • Patent number: 11507165
Abstract: A system for power management of an electronic device. The system comprises a programmable system microcontroller; power ports configured to sink or source electrical power; and a programmable power multiplexor connected between the power ports and the system microcontroller. The system further comprises bi-directional load switches connected between the power port and a bi-directional voltage convertor, and configurable to allow electrical power to flow through the bi-directional load switch. The bi-directional voltage convertor converts a first voltage supplied by the bi-directional load switch to a second voltage and supplies power at the second voltage to the electronic device or external device through the power ports. The programmable system microcontroller controls the direction in which each bi-directional load switch allows power to flow and the second voltage, such that the system sinks or sources power at each of the power ports according to programming of the system microcontroller.
