  • Patent number: 10045290
Abstract: A computing device is interfaced with other devices in a wireless personal area network (PAN) to enhance co-existence with a wireless local area network (WLAN). The computing device coordinates activity of the wireless PAN as a coordinator for the wireless PAN, including communicating with the wireless PAN devices using an overlay protocol that is only partially compliant with the protocol used over the WLAN but enables co-existence. WLAN devices can, upon hearing an overlay protocol frame, understand at least enough of the overlay protocol frame to defer use of a common wireless networking medium. If the PAN coordinator is capable of associating with the WLAN, it can be a dual-network device capable of associating with the WLAN and PAN simultaneously. The dual-network device can use a common network module to handle both WLAN and PAN traffic, communicate with a WLAN device in ad hoc mode and enable power saving.

  • Patent number: 10038995
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communications. A communication device may utilize enhanced roaming techniques to use multiple channel maps for a high density AP environment. For instance, a communication device performs at least a partial channel scan by a communications device while the communications device is connected to an access point (AP) associated with a basic service set identifier (BSSID). The communication device further selects a channel map from a plurality of channel maps associated with the BSSID based at least in part on the partial scan, wherein each of the channel maps associated with the BSSID comprises a different set of signal strength measurements for a same set of neighboring APs. The communication device also uses the selected channel map as a basis for a roaming operation by the wireless device.

  • Patent number: 10004032
Abstract: Techniques are described for backhaul operations in a millimeter wave wireless communication system. A first base station of the millimeter wave wireless communication system identifies an access demand and one or more access communication parameters associated with the first base station. The first base station sends information to a second base station indicative of the access demand and the one or more access communication parameters, and determines one or more backhaul communication parameters associated with the second base station of the millimeter wave wireless communication system. The first base station establishes a wireless backhaul link with the second base station via the millimeter wave wireless communication system. The first base station partitions resources between an access link with one or more user equipments and the established wireless backhaul link based at least in part on the access demand, the one or more access communication parameters, or the backhaul communication parameters.

  • Patent number: 9986492
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communications. A communication device may utilize enhanced roaming techniques to dynamically adjust signal strength thresholds in a high density AP environment. For instance, a communication device determines a signal strength of a communication link between a wireless device and an access point (AP). The communication device further compares the signal strength value to at least a low threshold and a high threshold and performs a channel scan for the communication link when the signal strength value is below the low threshold. The communication device also adjusts the low threshold when the signal strength value is greater than the high threshold.

  • Patent number: 9955322
Abstract: [Problem] To provide an audio communication system in which a relaying device is connected to terminal devices via a communication network and said terminal devices communicate with each other on the basis of assignments for said terminal devices. [Solution] This relaying device is provided with a network communication unit, a storage unit, and a control unit. The network communication unit is connected to a communication network and communicates with a plurality of terminal devices over said communication network. The storage device assigns each terminal device to one of a plurality of subsystems and stores, for each terminal device, the assigned subsystem and identifying information. When an audio signal is received from a given terminal device, the control unit identifies the subsystem to which said terminal device is assigned from originating-terminal-device information attached to the audio signal and forwards the audio signal to another terminal device assigned to the identified subsystem.
