  • Patent number: 9218762
Abstract: This describes power saving techniques for emissive displays. In one example, the outputs of emissive elements in an emissive display are selectively reduced in order to save power when the emissive display does not change its output imagery for a defined period. The techniques of this disclosure may achieve effects in emissive displays that appear visually similar to, or better than, the effects in conventional transmissive displays when the backlight dims over time.

  • Patent number: 9143946
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate assigning carriers to access points based on power class. Devices can accordingly evaluate cells provided by the access points to select a cell with an optimal SNR or path loss for communication regardless of power class, since lower powered cells will not be interfered by higher powered cells communicating over different carriers. Cross-carrier operation is also provided where access points can transmit downlink signals according to carrier assignment information while receiving uplink signals over other carriers. Thus, once an optimal cell is determined, downlink control data can be received over the assigned carrier to ensure receipt without interference, but uplink transmissions can occur over multiple carriers to facilitate increased throughput using one or more reuse schemes.

  • Patent number: 9111498
Abstract: Controlling a head-mounted display includes providing a head-mounted display, the head-mounted display includes a switchable viewing area that is switched between a transparent viewing state and an information viewing state. The transparent viewing state is transparent with respect to the viewing area and enables a user of the head-mounted display to view the scene outside the head-mounted display in the user's line of sight. The information viewing state is opaque with respect to the viewing area and displays information in the switchable viewing area visible to a user of the head-mounted display. An external environmental state detector provides an external stimulus notification in response to a detected change in the external environment and causes the viewing state to automatically switch in response to the external stimulus notification.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus that facilitate predictive hard and soft handover are presented herein. A measurement component can measure signal strength data associated with a source cell and one or more target cells. One or more linear regression lines can be computed based on the signal strength data. Rates of at least one of an increase or a decrease in the signal strength data per unit of time can be determined based on a slope of the one or more linear regression lines—the slope can comprise a change in signal strength data per unit of time. A time to trigger at least one of a hard or soft handover can be triggered based on the rates.

  • Patent number: 9084208
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for changing the transmission/reception setup of a base station (BS) in a communication network to another transmission/reception setup (such as one using fewer transmit antennas and/or lower channel bandwidths) without affecting communication with user equipments involve “replacing” the existing BS with a “virtual” BS that has the other transmission/reception setup. Replacement can be performed by, for example, ramping down the power of the existing, or first, BS, which has a respective first cell identification (ID), and simultaneously ramping up the power of the virtual, or second, BS, which has a respective second cell ID.

  • Patent number: 9063606
Abstract: The present invention discloses a control device for a touch panel that comprises a plurality of X-directional sensing lines and Y-directional sensing lines. The X-directional sensing lines and Y-directional sensing lines are arranged in an interlaced manner. The control device comprises a clock generation circuit, a selection module, a driving signal generation circuit, a differential detection module, and a digital-to-analog conversion module. The selection module selects a first sensing line and a second sensing line from the X-directional sensing lines or Y-directional sensing lines. The driving signal generation circuit generates first and second driving signals to the first and second sensing lines, respectively. The digital to analog conversion module selectively outputs a first voltage to the first sensing line or outputs a second voltage to the second sensing line. The operation frequency of the touch panel can be increased using the control device of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 8903413
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate providing hybrid cell access points that can support closed subscriber groups (CSG) while providing at least a minimum level of service to wireless devices excluded from the CSG. Hybrid cell access points can allow non-member wireless devices to camp and receive paging signals. Upon receiving a request for resources from non-member wireless devices, hybrid cell access points can handover the non-member wireless devices to an access point that can serve the non-member wireless devices, provide a portion of resources compared to a disparate portion provided to member wireless devices, and/or the like. In addition, hybrid cell access points can vary levels of service and downlink transmission power to provide load balancing for access points. Varying levels of service and downlink transmission power can facilitate additional functionality, such as reducing transmission power to serve member devices while mitigating interference to non-member devices.
