Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods to enable a multiple users browsing content offerings on multiple devices to have their selections played by a content playback device using its own authentication credentials. The users can then continue to browse the content offerings on their multiple second displays without interrupting the content that is playing on the main content playback device. The method is an architecture design and implementation that allows users to navigate, browse, and search content offerings on a second display such as a smart phone, PC, laptop, tablet, internet appliance, or any other device with a capability to couple to a network. Concurrently, while a user is using the content playback device, another user can perform browsing activities on a second display and send a media selection to a primary content playback device of the user's choice for queueing and/or playback.

Abstract: Provided is a reception apparatus including a reception unit that receives broadcast content transmitted by a broadcast waves of digital broadcasting, a first obtaining unit that obtains transmission data other than data-broadcast content, the transmission data being transmitted in a data carousel transmission scheme by the broadcast wave, and a control unit that controls a predetermined operation based on the obtained transmission data.

Abstract: Video recognition processing on video signals input from an outside is performed. Hence, video reception device which is configured to transmit and receive data through communication network includes input unit, video extraction unit, video recognition region setting unit, control unit and additional information display control unit. The video recognition region setting unit sets a video recognition region to a partial video based on feature information indicating features of video signals input from an outside. The additional information display control unit generates content recognition information in the video recognition region of the partial video. The control unit performs control of requesting video recognition device to perform video recognition processing on this content recognition information.

Abstract: Arrangement and method in which at least one server is coupled to imaging sources that obtain high resolution videos of scenic locations, a series of images constituting a video. Stream controllers are located at user sites and coupled to the server. The stream controllers are controlled, e.g., by user interfaces, to select one of the imaging sources to provide high resolution streaming video to the stream controller via the server. A display system is coupled to each stream controller and configured to display streaming video from the selected imaging source.

Abstract: One embodiment may take the form of an apparatus for providing personalized multimedia content to a user of a television system based on the user's preferences. In one implementation, a television receiver of a television system may monitor the habits and usage of the users of the system. The information gathered concerning the usage of the system may be stored in a database and accessed by the television receiver to provide multimedia options to a user that may be of interest to the user. These options may be presented to the user through any number of on-screen guides accessible by the user on the television system. In other implementations, the multimedia options based on the user's preferences may be automatically presented to the user as part of a favorite channels list at least partially constructed by the user.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to monitor for and alert the occurrence of pre-failure indicators at a set-top box (STB) disk. Results of self-monitoring tests, short tests, and maximum/minimum performance tests may be used to identify the potential for a STB disk failure. Moreover, critical error events at the STB may be logged, and the health of the STB disk may be determined based on the logged critical error events. Test results and critical error event logs may be used to predict an impending failure of a STB disk, and a notification may be output to a user or technician indicating the potential need to replace the STB or STB disk.

Abstract: A media output device operates to receive audio and/or video data for a content item. The audio and/or video data can be communicated from another device over a network. The output device generates an audio or video output for the content item based on the audio or video data. While receiving the audio or video data, the output device determines an instance of time that is synchronized to an external clock reference. The output device also determines an output correction to perform based at least in part on the synchronized instance of time. The output device adjusts the output to include the output correction.

Abstract: A method for transmitting a broadcast signal, the method includes encoding data pipe (DP) data corresponding to each of a plurality of DPs; mapping the encoded DP data to data symbols to generate at least one signal frame; modulating data in the at least one signal frame using an orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) scheme; inserting a preamble at a beginning of each of the at least one signal frame in a time domain; and transmitting a broadcast signal having the preamble and the modulated data of the at least one signal frame, wherein the preamble includes a wake-up indicator which wakes up a receiver to decode a DP for an emergency alert table (EAT) and acquire the EAT.

Abstract: A method for facilitating the generation of recommendations of audiovisual content for a first user. The method comprises receiving data from a plurality of second users, the received data indicating audiovisual content of interest to the second users. The method further comprises processing the received data to automatically identify a plurality of relationships between interests of one or more of the second users in respective items of audiovisual content in the audiovisual content represented by the received data and generate a recommendation engine. The recommendation engine is adapted to take as input indications of audiovisual content of interest to the first user and to generate recommendations of further audiovisual content of interest to the first user based upon a subset of the plurality of relationships.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for identifying content using one or more Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) devices by accessing a user's account using a secondary device and selecting content provided by a service provider. The service provider sends an identifier that specifies the selected content to a first IPTV device that will display content. The selected content is added to a user's content list in the user's account; and played on the first IPTV device. During the time of playback on the first IPTV device, the user is able to browse content using the secondary device or another IPTV device. Thus, the user is able to browse and search for additional content without disturbing the display of the selected content.

Abstract: Log information includes items of information that identify one or more of program titles and performers that are selected by a user as being preferred. Identifiers are displayed, where each of the identifiers identifies an item of information included in the log information. An input to select one of the identifiers is received, and broadcast information for the program title or performer corresponding to the selected identifier is acquired. The broadcast information includes one or more broadcast times of contents that have the program title or that include the performer. The broadcast information is displayed to include the one or more broadcast times and an input is received to select a broadcast time of a content. Detailed information for the content and the broadcast time are displayed when the input to select the broadcast time of the content is received.

Abstract: Systems and methods are discussed for providing guidance for Internet-delivered media. In some embodiments, information on available media on the Internet is gathered. The information is associated with existing media guidance data. The associations enable a media guidance application to identify relevant online media and to display listings in a user-friendly way. A user interface for an online media guidance application is also provided. The user interface allows a user to narrow down the large amount of Internet-delivered media in a systematic way according to criteria that interests a user.

Abstract: Various arrangements for handling broadcast of advertiser content are presented. A plurality of frames of an advertisement may be analyzed for an advertiser-specific graphical identifier. A frame of the plurality of frames may be selected based on the advertiser-specific graphical identifier being present. The broadcast content may be encoded into a format for transmission to a plurality of television receivers. Encoding may include defining the frame selected from the plurality of frames such that the frame can be decoded independently of other frames of the plurality of frames. A subset of the plurality of frames may require decoding of the selected frame to be performed prior to decoding of any individual frame of the subset of frames.
