  • Patent number: 4916850
Abstract: A line attachment device for fixing objects to a line such as a fishing line, a string or a piece of rope. The device includes a shank or stem securable to the object to be fixed. The line attaching portion of the device includes a plug fixed to the stem, a cleat next to the plug and extended outward from it, and a cap with a central opening that fits snuggly over the plug. To fix the line to the device, an open loop is formed in the line and is trained through the opening in the cap when the cap is removed from the plug. The loop is drawn over the end of the plug and over the cleat such that it bears against the cleat when pulling toward the plug. The cap is then secured on the plug to hold the loop in place. The loop is secured on the cleat and is prevented by the cap from passing over the cleat whereby the line is secured to the line ataching device and thus to the object.

  • Patent number: 4914783
Abstract: A sliding hinge for mounting a nose cone or cover on a nacelle or housing, such as an equipment package suspended from the wing of an aircraft. Typically two hinges are used, positioned at opposite sides of the housing, for pivoting the nose cone upward to provide access to the equipment within the housing. Each hinge includes a sleeve mounted in the housing, a slide block sliding in the sleeve, and a slide arm pivotally attached to the slide block and mounted in the nose. To open the package, the nose is initially slid forward from the housing and then pivoted to an upward position. During this operation the slide arm slides out of the sleeve from a retracted position to an extended position and then pivots upward to the open position, with the slide block remaining in the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4915160
Abstract: A mould forming mix of ingredients including sand, a binder, and a catalyst blend is produced. The catalyst blend includes at least two catalysts one of which is slow acting and the other of which is fast acting. The ratio of the fast and slow catalysts used to make up the catalyst blend depends on the time to hardening required, and the temperature of the sand. A data processor is used to combine information concerning the hardening time, the temperature, and the rate at which materials are fed to a mixing unit, and to process the information in order to operate catalyst suppliers which supply the fast and slow catalysts.

  • Patent number: 4915286
Abstract: According to the disclosed method for the soldering of wires of components, at least one wire is stamped to make it lose its symmetry of revolution. The result thereof is one or more impressions. A solder strip is crimped by deformation around the wire to form a solder preform held still by the impressions, which leaves free a surface of the wire. The component to be soldered, held against said surface of the wire, is soldered by reflow process. Application: the soldering of components such as disk ceramic capacitors.

  • Patent number: 4915270
Abstract: A feed system is provided for conveying molten metal to a thin section caster having mold surfaces moving exclusively in the direction of casting. The feed system has a passage of circular cross section adjacent to one end thereof for receiving molten metal and a rectangular cross section at the delivery end thereof adjacent to the caster. The feed system is designed for supplying molten metal to the caster at low pressure for "closed-pool" type caster operation. The point of highest elevation in the metal flow passage of the feed system is on the upper surface of a transition portion where the cross section changes from circular to rectangular adjacent to the nozzle. The level or height of the high point above the centerline of the nozzle exit is selected so as to be less than the pressure of the metal measured in inches at the nozzle exit. This feature enables the maintenance of positive pressure in the metal within the feed system so that ingress of air into the metal is prevented.

  • Patent number: 4912809
Abstract: The present invention comprises an improved mounting device incorporating two set screws acting upon two separate axially spaced-apart conical portions of an anchor bolt to produce a lateral "wedging" force which anchors the door handle securely in place against the door stile. The anchor bolt is secured in a hole drilled in the door by turning the threaded shank of the bolt into an internally-threaded rivet set into the hole. A door pull is inserted over the anchor bolt through a bore in the door pull, and a counter bore fits over the flange of the internally-threaded rivet to permit the door pull to bear directly against the door stile. As the two set screws are tightened into threaded holes in the bottom of the door pull, the beveled tips of the set screws bear on the conical surfaces of the anchor bolt, creating a lateral wedging force which moves the door pull toward and against the door stile.

  • Patent number: 4912872
Abstract: The animal trap of the present invention includes a housing having a top wall, a bottom wall, a closed rear end, and a door opening at the forward end. A door is hinged at the upper edge of the door opening and is adapted to swing downwardly by gravity from an open position to a latched position. A trip treadle is located near the rear end of the trap and is connected by a rod to the door. When the animal depresses the trip treadle, the rod releases the door so the door can fall from its open to its closed position. A latch mechanism is connected with the door which causes the door to automatically latch and be held in its closed position whenever the door falls by gravity from its open to its closed position. The latch may be opened without exposing the operator's hand to the vicinity of the cage, thereby making it safer to release the animal.

  • Patent number: RE33197
Abstract: Wave soldering process and apparatus for the soldering of elements such as, for example, printed circuit assemblies with surface mounted components and the like which yield improved soldering results by promoting the penetration of solder into narrow spaces between components, the filling of small holes in a board, filling crevices, filling corners adjacent to solder masks and all other areas where solder wetting is difficult to achieve with conventional machines. The process provides the steps of moving an element in a predetermined path, forming a solder wave beneath the path so that at least a portion of the element passes through the solder wave, and producing an oscillation in the solder wave during the passage of the element therethrough.
