Abstract: A treatment system includes a guide sheath, and a catheter provided with a pressure-controlled element. The pressure-control element preferably includes an expanded configuration adapted to extend across a small feeder vessel branching from the splenic vein. The pressure-control element is positioned with the feeder vessel, and a therapeutic agent is delivered under pressure directly into the feeder vessel, where it is forced to penetrate deep into tissue. Pressure responsive elements for monitoring intravascular pressure are also provided to time delivery of the therapeutic agent for maximum uptake by the target organ. Methods for treating tissues and organs via vascular pathways are provided.

  • Patent number: 11219762
Abstract: A system and method are provided for performing predictive permeation on the skin of a patient, particularly where the skin has no corneum. For this purpose, a device is provided which has an elongated probe, with an electrode array that extends along an active segment of the probe. Also, a voltage source is connected to the electrode array to generate an electric field. Operationally, an electro-conductive emulsion is applied onto the skin of the patient where the predictive permeation procedure is to be performed and the probe is positioned to contact the skin to be treated. The emulsion then interacts with the electric field that is generated by the electrode array to increase the permeability of the skin. Particles from a blood sample of the patient are included in the emulsion, and are introduced into the skin during the predictive permeation procedure to increase skin density.

  • Patent number: 11065407
Abstract: Resuscitation apparatuses and methods for assisted ventilation are described herein. The apparatuses may include functional elements that allow the manual delivery of a prescribed volume to an adult or an infant lung. Furthermore, the apparatuses may inform and assure an emergency worker that an appropriate volume is being delivered and therefore lessen the possibility of barotrauma from over-delivery, or ventilatory distress from under-delivery. In some embodiments, the apparatuses include biomechanical and ergonomic functional elements that allow an adult hand to hold it in place during operation, while at the same time, allowing the user to actuate the apparatus to deliver only the necessary amount of volume suitable for an infant lung. In other embodiments, a volume-controlled design is applied to pediatric and adult resuscitation.

  • Patent number: 11045627
Abstract: The present teachings provide a delivery catheter with a deflectable tip and the deflection angle of the deflectable tip can be accurately controlled. Specifically, the delivery catheter includes a deflectable distal tip operably coupled to a pull wire, an elongated catheter portion, and a control mechanism. The control mechanism is configured to activate a rapid transformation of the deflectable tip from its linear profile to its curved profile. The control mechanism further includes a linear actuation mechanism. Such linear actuation mechanism converts a rotation motion of the control mechanism to a precise linear motion, which in turn accurately controls the bend angle of the deflectable tip of the delivery catheter. Such control mechanism can be used in applications that require the control of the distal deflection of the catheter, such as EP catheter, trans-septal device, and other devices.
