Abstract: The novel devices comprise a housing that preferably contains a preloaded, conventional syringe with medication. Both trained and untrained users may administer an injection safely and conveniently to themselves or others in myriad settings. The disclosed devices rely on the user's manual action to insert the needle. Only after the needle is fully inserted is the medicament delivered, resulting in a safer injection. After use, the devices include a locking mechanism that locks a spring-loaded sheath in place around the needle for protection. As a common syringe is utilized, engineering and production issues of automatic injectors' custom syringe assemblies are avoided.
Abstract: An adapter for a breast shield of a breast pump for pumping human breast milk has a chamber having a first opening leading to the breast shield and a second opening remote from the breast shield. The adapter also has a flexible media separation diaphragm, which is accommodated in the chamber and separates the chamber into a pump-side and a breast-shield-side area. The chamber tapers toward the breast-shield-side opening. The chamber has the shape of a spherical dome which is cut off in the tapering area thereof. The media separation diaphragm likewise has substantially the shape of a flattened spherical dome having a flat top side, wherein the flat top side of the media separation diaphragm faces the breast-shield-side opening of the chamber. The adapter permits a minimum pressure drop over the media separation diaphragm and ensures a reliable return to the original shape of the media separation diaphragm.
Abstract: A motorized drug delivery device configured to administer at least one pre-set dose of a medicament contained within a medicament container. The delivery device comprising a user activation system (13), a motor (22), a gear train (15) operatively coupled to the user activation system and the motor, and a piston plunger system (200) operatively coupled to the gear train. The piston plunger system comprises a piston plunger (50) and at least one plunger extension (42; 44) for extending a length of the piston plunger. The piston plunger system is configured to act on a stopper contained within the medicament container to deliver at least one pre-set dose of medicament. The user activation system comprises a mechanical automatic reset activation system for automatically resetting the drug delivery device after administration of the pre-set dose.
Abstract: A needle assembly includes: a needle comprising a hollow needle tube, a needle tip at a distal end of the hollow needle tube, and a cutting face disposed adjacent to the needle tip; and a needle hub that includes a tip and a base end, and holds the needle at the needle tip. The needle hub includes a needle tip side end face from which the needle tip projects. An outer diameter of the needle is within a range of 0.15 mm to 0.20 mm, inclusive. A projection needle length extending from the needle tip side end face to the needle tip is within a range of 0.50 mm to 1.25 mm, inclusive. A needle body length extending from the needle tip side end face to a proximal end of the cutting face in within a range of 0.10 mm to 0.70 mm, inclusive.
Abstract: An article (100) comprising at least one microneedle (160) is provided. The article comprises a first side (112) and a second side (114) opposite the first side. The first side comprises a central cavity portion (120) and a platform portion (130), with at least one microneedle extending therefrom, wherein the platform portion is not coplanar with the central cavity portion. The platform portion substantially surrounds the central cavity portion. The at least one microneedle comprises a body comprising an outer surface (163); a base segment (166) having a base (162) and a first shape; a tip segment (168) having a tip and a second shape, wherein the second shape is distinct from the first shape; a transition plane (167) that delineates the base segment and the tip segment; and a central axis (180). Methods of using the article are also provided.
