  • Patent number: 4799573
Abstract: An adjustable personnel platform (38) is rotatably fastened on a lift tower end, with a carrying arm (42) and a pivot link (43) in the pivot plane of the elements (15, 21, 26) of the lift tower. It is automatically held horizontal through a reversable electric motor (96) and a speed translating drive (66, 67) as well as through a control surrounding a regulator with an inclination measuring device (92). The speed translating gear drive (66, 67) directly drives the rotatable part (64) of the pivot link (43). Between carrying arm (42) and the motor a plurality of direction changing couplings (81, 86) are provided. They arrest the rotation of the carrying arm (42) in both directions of rotation and release the rotary direction of the carrying arm (42) in a respective one of the rotary directions of the motor (97).

  • Patent number: 4793523
Abstract: A metering mechanism comprises a housing (7) with a material inlet (12) and a rotary metering member (27) that is rotatably mounted between side walls (8,9) of the housing with its periphery exposed to a chamber (48) within the housing so as to meter material from the chamber as it rotates, characterized in that a removable insert (74) is provided that is a close fit in said chamber and has a passage (75) through it that communicates at one end with said inlet (12) and at the other end with the periphery of the rotary metering member (27) so that the effective volume of said chamber (48) is reduced to the volume of said passage (75). Thus, if the metering mechanism incorporates the known shutter-type tramlining device in which a shutter (24) serves to close the inlet (12) to the housing, the quantity of speed retained in the chamber within the housing is reduced and therefore the length of a bout that will be sown after closing the shutter will be correspondingly reduced.

  • Patent number: 4785972
Abstract: A self-generating gas pressure apparatus such as an expandable closed pouch for placement within a container from which a fluid therein is to be dispensed under pressure. The apparatus has a plurality of internal compartments formed by pressure-rupturable seals and containing respective chemical compounds which when mixed upon adjacent-compartment seal rupture produce a gas. At least one of two adjacently-housed chemical compounds has in addition thereto a nucleating agent such as diatomaceous earth which acts to more rapidly force gas generated in the reaction of the adjacently-housed chemical compounds out of solution and thereby provide an operative pressure to the apparatus more quickly.
