  • Patent number: 10892873
Abstract: A method and apparatus for allocating resources for a machine type communication user equipment (MTC UE) in a wireless communication system is provided. A base station indicates a transport block size (TBS) directly, adapts a code rate according to repetition numbers across multiple subframes in a MTC physical downlink shared channel (M-PDSCH) for the MTC UE, and allocates resources for the M-PDSCH by using the indicated transport block size and the adapted code rate. The TBS may be determined based on a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) only.

  • Patent number: 10880125
Abstract: Embodiments include a power distribution access network comprising power sourcing equipment (PSE) having a hybrid power-data port and at least one remote distribution node coupled to the PSE. The PSE delivers power at a first voltage to the distribution node and the distribution node delivers power at a second voltage to a remote device. Delivery of power to the distribution nodes may be based on information from the distribution node. Other embodiments include a power distribution access network with remote distribution nodes daisy-chained together by hybrid power-data cables so that a power line and a plurality of optical lines pass along the distribution nodes. The optical lines sequentially drop off along the chain and a remainder of the optical lines is indexed at each distribution node. Remote powered devices are coupled to the distribution nodes. Each remote powered device receives power and optical signals from the respective remote distribution node.

  • Patent number: 10868643
Abstract: Methods and systems for multi-protocol transmissions in shared spectrum are disclosed where an OFDM transmitter is configured to generate transmissions associated with one OFDM technology or protocol using subcarriers of another OFDM technology. Generally, an OFDM transmitter may be configured to map or assign the different OFDM signals to different subsets of the available OFDM subcarriers such that the data contained therein can be transmitted at the same or during an overlapping time interval. In one application, an LTE transmitter is configured to generate and/or transmit LTE information using LTE subcarriers located in unused portion(s) of the Wi-Fi system bandwidth independently of or in addition to transmitting Wi-Fi or LTE information using LTE subcarriers located in portions of the Wi-Fi system bandwidth normally occupied by Wi-Fi subcarriers.

  • Patent number: 10862723
Abstract: Methods and systems for multi-protocol beacon operation in shared spectrum (unlicensed band) are disclosed where an OFDM transmitter is configured to generate transmissions associated with one OFDM technology or protocol using subcarriers of another OFDM technology. In one application, an LTE transmitter (LTE-U) uses LTE subcarriers to generate an interpolated 802.11 (e.g. Wi-Fi) beacon transmission that can be understood by Wi-Fi receivers, for example to reserve the channel for a subsequent LTE transmission. For instance a W-LAN preamble is generated where STF and LTF fields consist in respectively 12 and 52 subcarriers mapped at their respective frequency locations among the 2048 LTE subcarriers with the remaining subcarriers set to 0. In some implementations, the use of beacons can be useful in implementations where it is desirable to gain prioritized access to reserve the channel.

  • Patent number: 10863410
Abstract: Methods, non-transitory computer readable media, session director apparatuses, and network traffic management systems that facilitate packet data network (PDN) service slicing with microsegmentation in an evolved packet core are disclosed. With this technology, a create session request (CSR) general packet radio service (GPRS) tunneling protocol (GTP) control (GTP-c) message is intercepted. A lookup key is then determined based on content of the intercepted CSR GTP-c message. A PDN gateway (PGW) identifier for a PGW is obtained using a slice name obtained using the lookup key. The intercepted CSR GTP-c message is modified to include the obtained PGW identifier. Subsequently, the modified CSR GTP-c message is steered based on the obtained PGW identifier, such as directly to the PGW or to a serving gateway (SGW) module associated with the PGW.

  • Patent number: 10827469
Abstract: A modified subframe structure is defined for a subset of a plurality of subframes. The modified subframe structure includes a first portion with one or more blank symbols over which a network node can measure monitor to determine whether the subframe is used as a downlink (or uplink) subframe by a neighboring network node. The modified subframe structure can also include a second portion of symbols for communicating control information or data in the subframe, which can be based on determining whether the subframe is used as a downlink (or uplink) subframe by the neighboring network node. This can lessen the impact of possible interference caused by the network nodes dynamically switching time division duplexing (TDD) subframe configurations by enabling network nodes to determine when a neighboring node is transmitting in a subframe, and accordingly avoiding transmitting in the subframe.
