  • Patent number: 4724570
Abstract: The present invention is an improved toothbrush for sulcular brushing which includes a head, a shank and a handle. The head has a rounded heel, a rounded toe which is narrower than the rounded heal in order to facilitate reaching the distal surface of either the last tooth in the arch or an isolated tooth, a pair of rounded sides both of which benignly interface with the soft oral tissue and a flat top surface on which multitufted bristles are disposed. The multitufted bristles include a plurality of rows of tufts spaced to provide two smooth, orthogonal brushing planes intersecting each of the rounded sides and a lingual brushing plane intersecting both of the two smooth, orthogonal brushing planes to form a smooth angled heel for cleaning the sulcus and the gingival third of lingual surface of the anterior teeth of both arches. The center row of the plurality of rows of tufts includes a set of the longest individual bristles each of which has a diameter of 0.

  • Patent number: 4718337
Abstract: The apparatus comprises a plurality of stages having screw presses, the material passing out from the outlet side of the stages being passed by a transfer duct to the inlet side of the following stage. Each stage has a speed adjustable independently of the speed of the other stages. Compared with known screw presses, the advantage exists that following each treatment in a stage, by means of an opening in the transfer duct, the material can be measured, checked or subjected to an additional treatment. The number of stages can also be adapted to the material being processed and there is also a relatively large freedom with regards to the arrangement of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4716614
Abstract: A device for monitoring the process of toothbrushing has a handle that is electrically connected to signalling means. The handle has a neck and the neck is designed to consecutively receive various heads of toothbrushes. Removable and replaceable heads, with numerous bristles thereon, can be consecutively mounted on said handle. There are sensing means on the neck to continuously measure a bending moment of the area to which said sensing means is attached. As pressure is exerted on bristles of the head, that pressure is transmitted to said neck and the signalling means can be activated. The device is useful in teaching appropriate methods of brushing, thereby reducing or eliminating abrasion of the teeth. In addition to pressure, the device is able to monitor frequency, duration and direction of brushing.

  • Patent number: 4716612
Abstract: A primary wiper arm includes a mounting head for securing the inner end to a pivot shaft, the outer end being pivotally secured to a pivot block. A drag link includes a ring bearing and a disk journaled in the ring bearing having mating spherical concave and convex surfaces respectively. This disk is mounted at the pivot shaft bearing housing eccentrially to the logitudinal axis of the pivot shaft. At its outer end the drag link is connected to the pivot block at a point spaced from the connection between the primary arm and the pivot block. A connector is provided for securing the blade to the pivot block. The arrangement effects relative angular movement between blade and arm assembly and permits gyrating movement of the drag link.

  • Patent number: 4711168
Abstract: A double band press is used for processing a continuous sheet material passing through the press. The press includes a rigid press frame including reversing drums mounted in bearing supports on the frame. An upper and a lower endless press belt run over different ones of the drums and each press belt in combination with a pressure plate and sliding seal form a pressure chamber for exerting pressure against a reaction zone located between adjacent runs of the press belts. The sliding seal is positioned within a groove in the pressure plate and is displaceable and is pressed toward the inner surface of the press belt. A fluid pressure medium in the pressure chamber provides the pressing action on the press belt. The sliding seal includes a metal body with a surface facing the inner surface of the press belt and a dry surface layer is provided in the surface facing the press belt so that the dry surface layer is in sliding frictional contact with the press belt.

  • Patent number: 4710996
Abstract: An elongated, preferably plastic handle has a sleeve lock on each of its opposite tip ends. When a twisted wire brush is placed in the handle and the sleeve is slipped over it, there is a guy wire effect from the sleeve which holds the brush firmly in place, as the sleeve stretches slightly over a bent end of the twisted wire of the brush. Each end of the inventive handle also has a tapered bore that may optionally hold the end of a wooden toothpick, which may be broken. The same sleeve which slips over the twisted wire stem of the brush, to anchor it in place, has a longitudinal cutout. The cutout is in the form of a cove opening into a funnel-shaped opening, with a nip between the cove and the funnel. The nip snaps over the toothpick to capture and hold it. The unbroken side of the sleeve which is opposite the cutout slips over the broken end of the toothbrush to help capture and cover it without leaving any exposed jagged fibers which could form splinters to damage mouth tissues.

  • Patent number: RE32586
Abstract: A press roll with adjustable flexion has a roll shell mounted to rotate around a fixed yoke and mounted with self-aligning bearings on a support cap in which the yoke is also supported on its own curved support. The press roll works in conjunction with a mating roll to form a press zone, near which there is a main hydraulic support that is positioned between the yoke and the shell and that transfers support forces from the yoke to the shell. The distance between the bearings of the shell is equal to that of the mating roll. The self-aligning bearing and the curved yoke support are mounted concentrically on a tubular collar of the support cap. There can also be supplemental supports outside the press zone for imposing additional flexion on the roll shell.
