  • Patent number: 8964581
Abstract: A bandwidth variable communication method is provided that enables effective use of frequency bandwidths in which the bit rate is constant in every optical path. The bandwidth variable communication method includes, when a network management apparatus sets or changes an optical path that passes through plural communication apparatuses, measuring or obtaining an optical signal quality deterioration amount in a route of the optical path; selecting a modulation format in which a spectrum bandwidth is the narrowest from among modulation formats by which transmission is available on conditions of the optical signal quality deterioration amount and a desired bit rate B (bit/s); and exchanging control information between the network management apparatus and a control unit of each communication apparatus on the optical path route. A bandwidth variable communication apparatus receives the control information, and changes a passband based on the received control information.

  • Patent number: 8953478
Abstract: An evolved Node B (eNB) and method for coherent coordinated multipoint transmission with per CSI-RS feedback are generally described herein. The eNB may configure a first cooperating point and a second cooperating point to jointly transmit a multi-node channel-state information (CSI) reference signal (RS) (CSI-RS) in predetermined resource elements of a resource block. The eNB may receive CSI reports as feedback from user equipment (UE). The CSI reports may include a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) indicating relative phase information between the cooperating points based on the multi-node CSI-RS. The CSI reports for the multi-node CSI-RS may be restricted to a PMI of rank-1. The eNB may configure the cooperating points for a coherent joint transmission to the UE based at least on the relative phase information. The coherent joint transmission may also be jointly beamformed based on single-node PMIs.

  • Patent number: 8948108
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for enabling resource allocation for a service data flow between a user equipment (14) and a gateway in a multiple access environment. The method comprises the steps of:—A resource reservation device (10,19) receives reservation instructions from a policy control node (13). The reservation instructions require dedicated access resources to be reserved for the service data flow.—The resource reservation device (10,19) reports the result of the resource reservation required by the reservation instructions to the policy control node (13). What particularly characterize the method are the steps of:—The resource reservation device (10,19) requests reservation of the resources required by the reservation instructions in a plurality of accesses (11,12).—The resource reservation device (10,19) reports the selected single access (11,12) that enables the requested resources to the policy control node (13). This is reported when the access (11,12) is selected.

  • Patent number: 8934359
Abstract: A method for managing upstream burst overhead parameters includes: an Optical Line Terminal (OLT) or an Optical Network Unit (ONU) detects transmission quality of a downlink between the OLT and the ONU; the OLT or the ONU determines the upstream burst overhead parameters suitable for the ONU according to the transmission quality; and the ONU starts to use the upstream burst overhead parameters suitable for the ONU after the switching time determined by the ONU itself or indicated by the OLT. The present invention also provides an ONU and an OLT for managing the upstream burst overhead parameters. The present invention can improve the bandwidth utilization rate and decrease the complexity of indicating the upstream burst overhead parameters in PON system, so that the ONU and the OLT are enabled to flexibly and simply select the upstream burst overhead parameters.

  • Patent number: 8929319
Abstract: In some implementations, a method implemented in an eNodeB (eNB) base station for single carrier frequency division multiple access SC-FDMA within a wireless system includes assigning to a user equipment a plurality of uplink scheduling request resources each comprising a plurality of subcarriers. It is determined that change in scheduling request resource used by the UE should be made. Upon determining that a change in scheduling request resource should be made, a command is transmitted to the UE instructing the UE to transmit scheduling requests on another of the plurality of assigned scheduling request resources.

  • Patent number: 8929254
Abstract: An Ethernet Tree (E-Tree) service is described instantiated on an Ethernet switch and in an Ethernet network. The E-Tree service is implemented using Private Forwarding Groups (PFGs), asymmetric Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), virtual switches, and port configurations. The use of PFGs in addition to asymmetric VLANs provides higher levels of security in the described E-Tree systems and methods. The E-Tree systems and methods also can utilize Access Control Lists (ACLs) at Network-Network Interfaces (NNIs) for controlling unknown unicasts from reaching wrong ports. The E-Tree systems and methods can also seamlessly interoperate with packet switches using an IEEE 802.1Q-2011 approach.

  • Patent number: 8879582
Abstract: In a transmitter which transmits a signal by a DSTBC scheme, communication is efficiently performed by the DSTBC scheme. In the transmitter which transmits the signal by the DSTBC scheme, a frame in which a sync word is disposed in a predetermined position subsequent to the head is used. Initial value controller (31 to 35) sets initial values of differential encoding (differential encoding unit 15) when a DSTBC encoder which processes a transmission target processes the frame on the basis of values from the head of the frame to a position before the sync word so that a signal point corresponding to the position immediately before the sync word in the DSTBC encoder which processes the transmission target becomes a specific point.

  • Patent number: 8861538
Abstract: A fast send method may be selectively implemented for certain data packets received from an application for transmission through a network interface. When the fast send method is triggered for a data packet, the application requesting transmission of the data packet may be provided a completion notice nearly immediately after the data packet is received. The fast send method may be used for data packets similar to previously-transmitted data packets for which the information in the data packet is already vetted. For example, a data packet with a similar source address, destination address, source port, destination port, application identifier, and/or activity identifier may have already been vetted. Data packets sent through the fast send method may be throttled to prevent one communication stream from blocking out other communication streams. For example, every nth data packet queued for the fast send method may be transmitted by a slow send method.

  • Patent number: 8842625
Abstract: The present solution provides a method in a base station (110) for selecting one or more user equipments (120) to be scheduled for a transmission. After receiving (201) channel state information from the respective one or more user equipments (120), the base station (110) estimates (202) the throughput of the transmission of the respective one or more user equipments (120). The throughput is based on the received channel state information. The base station (110) further estimates (203) the consumption of throughput that is expected for transmitting scheduling information to each of the respective one or more user equipments (120). The base station then selects (204) the respective one or more user equipments (120) to be scheduled for transmission based on a criterion. The criterion is based on the estimated throughput and the estimated consumption of throughput that is expected for transmitting the scheduling information to the respective one or more user equipments (120).
