Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a volume image backup of selected objects is provided. In one embodiment, a method for creating volume image backups using selected objects of a source volume, comprises processing metadata and mapping information regarding at least one object of a source volume, wherein the mapping information is used to identify at least one data block within the source volume for the at least one object, wherein the at least one object is selected from a plurality of objects configuring a file system hierarchy of at least one image file using the metadata and storing the at least one data block in the at least one image file using the mapping information.

Abstract: Systems and methods for systematically analyzing an electronic text are described. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving the electronic text from a plurality of sources. The method also includes determining an at least one term of interest to be identified in the electronic text. The method further includes identifying a plurality of locations within the electronic text including the at least one term of interest. The method also includes for each location within a plurality of locations, creating a snippet from a text segment around the at least one term of interest at the location within the electronic text. The method further includes creating multiple taxonomies for the at least one term of interest from the snippets, wherein the taxonomies include an at least one category. The method also includes determining co-occurrences between the multiple taxonomies to determine associations between categories of a different taxonomies of the multiple taxonomies.

Abstract: Aspects of invention may allow an operator to recognize that a search corresponding to search conditions set in a search folder does not function when such case occurs. In one embodiment, an information processing apparatus may include a search unit that conducts a search that corresponds to each of one or a plurality of search conditions set in a search folder, and searches for at least one folder element of the search folder. The apparatus also includes a search status confirmation unit that confirms the search status for each search condition in the search unit, and a folder-content display unit (e.g., search folder display unit) that displays, when the search status confirmation unit confirms that the search corresponding to the one or plurality of search conditions set in the search folder does not function, information indicating a malfunction.

Abstract: An information management system delegates information classification to an external computing resource, or classifier. The intelligence required to perform classification, including a series of logic and/or rules, is provided to the classifier. The logic and/or rules are translated from a first format to a second format understandable to the classifier. The information management system discovers objects of an entity and identifies them for the classifier. The classifier collects information about the objects, applies the logic and rules to the objects, and assigns one or more categories to each object. This classification information is translated from the second format to the first format and reported back to the information management system, which may use the assigned categories to identify and map service level objectives to available service levels. After service levels are selected, the corresponding actions can be orchestrated such that the objects of the entity receive the selected services.

Abstract: Ranking content items is disclosed. A user input is received from each of one or more users indicating an opinion of the user with respect to a content item included in a plurality of content items. Based at least in part on a number of users from whom user input has been received, a degree is determined to which a ranking of the content item relative to one or more other content items in the plurality of content items is determined by user input.

Abstract: Embodiments of the inventive concept reduce the burden of creating litigant sources of evidence or other evidentiary materials in connection with litigation in a court of law. Designation of at least one document file included in digital document information is accepted and designation of a language into which the designated document file is translated is accepted. The document file, the designation of which is accepted, is translated into the language the designation of which is accepted. A common document file representing the same content as that of the designated document file is extracted from digital document information recorded in a recording unit. Translation-related information representing that the extracted common document file is translated by invoking a translated content of the translated document file is generated, and, based on the translation-related information, a litigant-related document file is output.

Abstract: Identifying synonyms of entities using a collection of documents is disclosed herein. In some aspects, a document from a collection of documents may be analyzed to identify hit sequences that include one or more tokens (e.g., words, number, etc.). The hit sequences may then be used to generate discriminating token sets (DTS's) that are subsets of both the hit sequences and the entity names. The DTS's are matched with corresponding entity names, and then used to create DTS phrases by selecting adjacent text in the document that is proximate to the DTS. The DTS phrases may be analyzed to determine whether the corresponding DTS is synonyms of the entity name. In various aspects, the tokens of an associated entity name that are present in the DTS phrases are used to generate a score for the DTS. When the score at least reaches a threshold, the DTS may be designated as a synonym. A list of synonyms may be generated for each entity name.

Abstract: The reusable custom-defined nestable compound data type for construction of database objects of one or more embodiments of the invention provide advantages over traditional non-reusable structured tables of RDBM systems. The data structure of one or more embodiments of the invention may be thought of in part as a generalized form of a user defined compound data type that may be used to model various “exotic” data structures, such as flexible hierarchies and networks, in database schema. Thus, the system, methods and data structures of one or more embodiments of the invention may be used to define and instantiate structures that support the creation of flexible nested records that expose the relationship between parent records and private child sub-records in a database schema.

Abstract: A mapping is received and stored that maps elements of a data warehouse to types of a type system implemented by a data source. Program code is generated that performs a transform of data retrieved from a data source based on the mapping. Generation of the program code may include generating program code for performing a dimension transform based on the mapping, generating program code for performing a fact transform based on the mapping, and generating program code for performing an outrigger transform based on the mapping. The generated program code may then be executed to transform the data retrieved from the data source prior to loading into the data warehouse.

Abstract: This invention generally relates to a process, system and computer code for creating a portable unit on a first computer to be executed on remote computers including creating an execution file having one or more tasks for deployment, said tasks having command line arguments executable as variables by the remote computer, assembled into a single execution file, validating the tasks and organizing nested tasks, said organizing step including collecting nested task information for each task and accounting for all dependencies to insure that files, tasks, and environments for running on one or more remote computers are present in the portable unit, said step of creating an execution file further including, reading the task file, scanning for event dependencies and embedding files and links needed for remote execution of the execution file, storing the dependencies in a dependency file, scanning for security, verifying the task file for proper formatting.

Abstract: Systems and methods of identifying and categorizing social network messages that are relevant to selected categories and text terms are provided. The frequency of text terms appearing in social network messages are calculated for multiple categories. Based on the calculated text term frequency, social network messages can be identified and/or categorized that match a provided set of text terms. Selecting and/or associating text terms and categories are determined by repeatedly analyzing social network messages.

Abstract: A method of producing a personalized data file includes the steps of providing a message comprising at least one word to a person present at a site on a network and specifying a first data file, and producing a personalized data file by digitally combining the first data file and the message. The message is prepared by the person to whom the message was provided prior to being digitally combined with the first data file.

Abstract: An apparatus for detecting presence of a selected complex string in a data stream has a primary processor, detecting coherent strings of the selected complex string; and a secondary processor, pipelined to the primary processor, and detecting ambiguous strings interleaving said coherent strings. The primary processor is configured to determine a number of coherent strings in the selected complex string, each coherent string preceded by a prefix of indefinite characters, with a last coherent string succeeded by a suffix of indefinite characters; and to locate sequential portions of the data stream that are identical to successive coherent strings of the selected complex string. The secondary processor is configured to ascertain congruence of portions of the data stream preceding and interleaving the sequential portions to prefixes of the coherent strings; and to ascertain congruence of the suffix to a corresponding portion of said data stream following the sequential portions.

Abstract: A computer-implemented apparatus, method, and article of manufacture manage a plurality of database systems and perform data maintenance tasks in a data warehouse system. A domain includes a plurality of database systems. A virtual regulator manages the domain, detects a request to invoke a data maintenance task on a first system in the domain, routes the data maintenance task, for execution, to a second system in the domain, and applies results from the data maintenance task (executed by the second system) to the first system.

Abstract: Systems and methods of identifying and retrieving messages that satisfy a search query using the context of the message and term frequencies are provided. One embodiment includes identifying at least one category relevant to the search query, wherein a plurality of scored keywords are associated with each category, selecting at least one of the scored keywords that is relevant to an identified category, performing a plurality of searches of messages from a social networking messaging service to retrieve messages, where at least one search includes retrieving messages based on the original search query and one of the selected scored keywords, scoring the retrieved messages with respect to each of the at least one identified categories using at least the scored keywords relevant to each category, and returning at least the message with the highest score as the search result.

Abstract: A system for managing a plurality of systems, includes a domain comprised of a plurality of systems, wherein the systems are managed by one or more closed-loop system management (CLSM) regulators. A virtual regulator manages operational characteristics of the domain and the plurality of systems, by communicating with the CLSM regulators to monitor the systems' states, events and conditions within the domain and to adjust the systems' operational characteristics in response to the systems' states, events and conditions.

Abstract: Dynamic generation of target files is described. A user can select a template file. The template file includes: at least first and second changeable fields configured to be changed persistently, and a third changeable field. The second changeable field is configured to receive a security-related value. A third changeable field includes a first value configured to be changed temporarily to receive an encrypted version of the first value. The template file is parsed to generate a user interface, including: a first prompting label, corresponding to the first changeable field, requesting the user to enter the user content value, a second prompting label, corresponding to the second changeable field, requesting that the user enter audit data and/or access control data. An encrypted version of the first value corresponding to the third changeable field is generated. The first value is temporarily replaced with the encrypted value. The target file is then generated.

Abstract: Click-through log mining is described. Raw search click-through log data is processed to generate ordered query keywords, utilizing an algorithm to expand user-submitted keywords to include high frequency user queries, managing the keywords for a keyword expansion file, analyzing the algorithm performance on a bidding criteria, and identifying related phrases with similar page-click behaviors for advertisements.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to maintaining reference counts in a file system to track when a block is available to be freed. When a snapshot copy of a file is created, rather than copying all the blocks of the file for the snapshot copy, the snapshot inode is given pointers to the blocks of the file. Rather than updating the reference counts for all these blocks to indicate that they are now in use by more than one file, the update of reference counts for at least some of these blocks may be deferred until a later time.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems directed to receiving search queries, retrieving documents, computing the number of categories to present for a given query, computing the number of results to show in each category, computing an ordering of categories, and for all the result pages beyond the first page employing user interface elements that optionally allow the user to quickly zoom in on a specific category and get more results belonging to that category.
