  • Patent number: 7397469
Abstract: An electronic module that inserts into or is otherwise associated with a pen or other writing instrument. The electronic module includes a mechanism, such as an accelerometer, for detecting pen motion. The electronic module is preferably mounted in a substitute ink cartridge for a pen. Ballistic information generated by the accelerometer is transmitted via the radio transmitter to a computer (e.g., a personal computer), where processing and/or storage of the accelerometer information may occur. The accelerometer information may be used, for example, for handwriting recognition or digital ink generation. The electronic module is preferably provided in a casing that is shaped like an ink cartridge. Contemporary pens usually include two cartridges within the pen, a first that supplies ink to the nib, and a second that presses the first against the nib. The components may be mounted in a cartridge that is placed in the position of the second cartridge.

  • Patent number: 7382353
Abstract: In various embodiments, changing the function involves disabling an input device, disabling an output device, changing a display mode of the output device from portrait to landscape, or increasing volume of the output device. In an embodiment, the change of the function is delayed by a time period, and the delay for changing the output device is longer than the delay for changing the input device. If the electronic device is upright, the input device and the output device are enabled. The tilt is sensed by a sensing device, signals from the sensing device are filtered, and a delay is introduced. In this way, premature disabling or enabling of the electronic device is avoided.

  • Patent number: 7365711
Abstract: A plasma display panel (PDP) driving apparatus and a method for displaying pictures on the PDP increases the ability to express low gray scales without increasing the number of sub-fields. Input picture signal data are delayed by one frame and the number of high-order bits, from most significant bits not commonly used by all picture signal data within one frame, is detected. When the number of unused bits is detected, inverse gamma-corrected decimal point bits are shifted to an actual data position by the number of unused bits so as to increase power of expression of low gray scale. The decimal point bits are converted into sub-fields having low gray scale weights, in consideration of the shifting to the actual data position, for display on the PDP.

  • Patent number: 7362301
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal panel module, sampling circuits that sample video signals a timing adjustment module driving signal generators and a dummy element. The timing adjustment module detects a variation in signal delay in the driving signal generators with a temperature change or with time, as a phase difference of an output signal from the dummy element relative to a reference signal. The timing adjustment module adjusts the phase of the timing signal corresponding to the detected phase difference. This arrangement corrects a temporal deviation of the sampling circuit driving signals from the video signals, which is caused by the variation in signal delay in the driving signal generators, and thereby effectively restrains the occurrence of ghost.
