  • Patent number: 8837003
Abstract: An image processing apparatus determines whether a color image is formed by reading an original with a reading unit or input from an external apparatus, and sets a conversion method for converting the color image into a monochrome image such that when an image obtained by monochrome converting the color image is output onto a recording medium, security information included in the color image is difficult to be discriminated by human eyes, if the color image is formed by reading an original. If the color image is input from the external apparatus, the image processing apparatus sets a monochrome conversion method selected by a user. The apparatus then converts the color image into a monochrome image by the set monochrome conversion method.

  • Patent number: 8817292
Abstract: Disclosed is a printing system having a raster image processing performance preflight option and an associated printing method. When the performance preflight option is selectively enabled, the printing system parses a print job to acquire data object statistics, performs preliminary raster image processing of the print job to generate preliminary raster pages, monitors the preliminary raster image processing to acquire performance statistics, determines (based on the performance statistics) whether or not the print job meets predefined specifications for raster image process timing and generates and displays a summary report. Page-specific selectable reports can be embedded in the summary report to allow a user to selectively view page-specific data object statistics and visual representations of specific preliminary raster pages. Such reports can be used to modify the print job in order to improve raster image processing timing prior to printing.

  • Patent number: 8804157
Abstract: A method, programmed medium and system are disclosed which provide for an in-line scanner used to dynamically scan a document or image, real-time as it is being printed within a printer unit and before the printed document exits the printer. The scanned image is compared to a stored electronically-generated image of the file being printed. When the comparison is determinative that there is a printing problem, the printing operation may be stopped quickly before the partially printed document or image has exited the printer. An error message may then be displayed, and the user is enabled to take appropriate action. A resume function enables a user to resume a print job at exactly the place where it had left off before detecting a print problem. In another embodiment, when the system detects a problem with a print job, the entire print job of the remainder of the print job is sent from the faulting printer to another printer where either the remainder of the print job or the entire print job is completed.

  • Patent number: 8780406
Abstract: A visible laser beam scanned by a galvano-scanner system is aligned at each of positioning points on the top surface of a master work by manual operation to record sensor position signals of position sensors on galvano-scanners. The sensor position signals on each positioning point are recorded to create a drive pattern in accordance with recorded sensor position signals. The drive pattern no longer has optics system error sources including focus error and attachment error as well as errors caused by scale, offset and the like, also eliminating the need for entering a distance as far as the top surface of the work. Therefore, the drive pattern with error components removed can be created with ease.
