  • Patent number: 9253595
Abstract: A system and method for determining base station location from neighbor lists of client devices is disclosed. When base station attempts and fails to acquire a satellite-based location fix, it can identify client devices operating within its service range, and query them for their respective neighbor lists. Upon receiving neighbor lists from one or more of the queried client devices, the base station can merge the lists into a composite list. The base station can then determine the locations of the base stations in the composite list, and compute a centroid from the locations. The base station can then adopt the centroid location as its own location.

  • Patent number: 9241266
Abstract: The present invention relates to an authentication system, a small base station, and an authentication method which allow a server side to authenticate whether an installation position of a small base station is valid or not. In a packet to be sent as an authentication request from the femto base station 1, in-IC card information of an IC card inserted into the femto base station 1 is contained. A network terminating device 2 converts a local IP address described in a header of the packet to a global IP address, and sends it to a femto concentrator 4. The femto concentrator 4 generates authentication information by associating the in-IC card information with the global IP address, and sends it to an authentication server 5. The authentication server 5 determines that the installation position of the femto base station 1 is valid if the in-IC card information and global IP address included in the authentication information have been associated with each other and registered in an authentication table.

  • Patent number: 9220109
Abstract: A method of allocating resources in a cellular radio communication network including user equipments and a cluster composed of local access points to the network covering a microcell. For each local access point, the presence of user equipments in a coverage zone of the microcell associated with the local access point is determined. A local coverage message specifying equipments determined as present in the microcell coverage zone is generated. A global coverage message by aggregation of the local coverage message of each local access point in the cluster is generated. At least one operating parameter of a local access point in the cluster is modified as a function of the global coverage message. For each local access point in the cluster, an activity state of the user equipment is determined and a field in the local coverage message is entered accordingly with data representing the activity of the equipment.

  • Patent number: 9177604
Abstract: Various embodiments enable a user of a mobile media device to select one or more channels to load onto the device. Each channel comprises a collection of media content files, such as video content, audio content, and so on. Each collection of media content files can be associated with a particular genre (or genres) of media content. A channel can be managed such that its collection of media content can be rearranged, augmented, and/or otherwise edited to produce a refreshed version of the channel. A user's interaction with content within a channel can be monitored to produce behavior data about the user. The behavior data can be used to customize the playback of a particular channel to reflect user preferences. The behavior data can also be used to produce channels that are custom tuned for the user and can be used to produce a customized version of a mobile media device.

  • Patent number: 9088959
Abstract: The delivery of paging messages to an access node are delayed based on an estimated paging message load currently being handled by the access node. When a mobility node receives a request that requires a wireless device to be paged, the mobility node refers to an estimate of the current paging load on an access node. This estimate can be based on the number of paging messages that have been sent to the access node that have not elicited a response and have not expired. If the estimated load is less than a threshold amount (e.g., 80%), then the paging message can be sent to the access node without further delay. If the estimated load is greater than the threshold amount, then an amount of time to wait before sending the paging message to the access node is selected or calculated.
