  • Patent number: 9959441
Abstract: A system for generating an extended specular lighting field for reading symbols on a reflective background surface is described. A scanner generates illumination for illuminating the symbols. Reflection of the illumination incident upon the reflective surface is retroreflected onto the symbols on the reflective surface. Reflection of the retroreflected light by the reflective surface is received by the scanner for processing information about the symbols. By using the reflective surface to help illuminate the symbols, an ordinary scanner can be used to read the symbols.

  • Patent number: 9934509
Abstract: In order to verify the authenticity of a product associated with a host device, the product contains, in segments of a non-volatile memory, several different functions stored in ciphered fashion. The host device sends a control signal for selecting and activating one of those ciphered functions. The product then deciphers and executes the function. The result of the function execution is then communicated back to host device when a decision on product authenticity is made.

  • Patent number: 9916712
Abstract: In an apparatus for checking sheet material a plurality of sensors is arranged along a sensor path along which the sheet material is transported. The sensors each have two components, which are arranged at opposite sides of the bank note transport path. For the functioning of many sensors it is necessary that the opposing sensor components are exactly aligned to each other. So as to achieve that the alignment of the sensor components arranged opposite each other is set with high accuracy and reproducible, the relative position of the sensor components opposing each other is defined by means of docking elements.
