The guide bars have perpendicular string channels for receiving the strings in the string bed. The connection bar is moved to the side which moves the strings into an alternating up and down position and allow for a straight space for a cross string to pass through. There are channels in the guide bars which allow a cross string to pass through. There are also string retention members which hold the cross string against the guide bars.
