  • Patent number: 9226317
Abstract: The present disclosure proposes a method for minor modifications to the Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) channel access mechanism in order to enable a greater number of concurrent communications in a unit area in compliance with the current protocol design. The method comprises equipping nodes with wider neighborhood information than what is obtained with IEEE 802.11, and with a device calibration that equips the device with the knowledge of its performance in the presence of interference. The present disclosure medium access mechanism increases the aggregate throughput with every additional concurrent communication that is enabled in the shared medium. Cocktail Party-capable devices can fairly coexist with 802.11 legacy DCF devices, and co-operate with these devices in the same network without changes to those devices or to the standard. The same or similar mechanisms can be applied to other systems and standards in order to enable concurrent communications in the same contention area.

  • Patent number: 9226229
Abstract: A method for Internet Protocol based sleep mode control using synchronization information includes setting some of the IP-based internal hosts of a sleep mode control network to a sleep mode, providing, by a base station, a synchronization signal with respect to the overall network, thereby transferring the synchronization information of a PHY/MAC layer based on a response thereto to an internal router, and updating, by the internal router having received the synchronization information of the network layer from the base station, the state of the corresponding hosts to a sleep mode, and then transmitting, by the internal router, information about the internal hosts in a sleep mode to the external hosts of a history information list because the internal router stores the history information of the external hosts that have communicated with the internal hosts in a sleep mode in the form of a list.

  • Patent number: 9225771
Abstract: In one embodiment, excess committed network appliance resources are shared for providing services within a network appliance. One approach maintains service resources in a committed service resource pool and one or more other pools of service resources. Service resources are taken from a corresponding pool as needed. Service resources are reallocated to the committed resource pool as needed to ensure that service resources are available to service corresponding packet streams at their corresponding committed rate. Examples of such services provided by a network appliance include, but are not limited to, network address translation (NAT), firewall, Internet Protocol Security (IPsec), virtual private network (VPN), or deep packet inspection (DPI) services.

  • Patent number: 9154332
Abstract: A computing apparatus as an element of a network structure acquires and maintains cell locked data transfer amongst a number of computing apparatuses which can be full mesh interconnected by full duplex data transfer links. A predefined number of symbols transmitted as a cell is followed by a variable number of idle symbols to ensure the nominally simultaneous start of the cell transfers throughout the network. At specific positions of the cells each computing apparatus broadcasts a list of its transmission requests and receiver capabilities to all other computing apparatuses. Each of the interconnected computing apparatuses executes the same arbitration procedure based on the identical data set of transmission requests and receiver capabilities. As a result transmission paths are assigned for direct transmission and for payload forwarding. Transmission paths can be assigned per cell period individually for both directions of each link.
