Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure include methods, apparatuses, and non-transitory computer-readable storage mediums for video encoding/decoding. An apparatus includes processing circuitry that decodes prediction information of a current block in a current picture that is a part of a coded video sequence. The prediction information indicates one of a plurality of intra prediction directions for the current block. The processing circuitry determines a subset of a plurality of reference lines based on the one of the plurality of intra prediction directions indicated in the prediction information. The processing circuitry performs an intra prediction of the current block based on the determined subset of the plurality of reference lines. The processing circuitry reconstructs the current block based on the intra prediction of the current block.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and an apparatus for video coding. In some examples, an apparatus includes processing circuitry that receives a bitstream that includes coded information representing a current bin of a current syntax element of a first syntax element type for a block in a picture. The processing circuitry determines, for the current bin of the current syntax element, a current context model associated with both the first syntax element type and a second syntax element type different from the first syntax element type. The processing circuitry also decodes the coded information according to the current context model to obtain the current bin of the current syntax element, and reconstructs the current block according to a characteristic indicated by the current bin of the current syntax element.

  • Patent number: 11508086
Abstract: Techniques are provided for image-based estimation of the orientation of an airborne platform. A methodology implementing the techniques according to an embodiment includes rotating an image, provided by a camera on the platform, by a selected rotation angle. The method also includes computing an intensity gradient image based on the rotated image. The method further includes extracting a left quarter segment and a right quarter segment of the intensity gradient image. The method further includes flipping one of the extracted segments about a vertical axis through that segment and comparing the non-flipped segment to the flipped segment to generate a matching score. The comparison may be based on a correlation between the flipped segment and the non-flipped segment. The process may be repeated for additional rotation angles and the rotation angle associated with the highest matching score is selected as the estimated orientation angle of the platform.
