    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and an apparatus including processing circuitry for video decoding. The processing circuitry decodes partition information from a coded video bitstream. The partition information indicates that a chroma coding tree structure in a dual tree is applied to a chroma block and indicates a block size of the chroma block in luma samples and a minimum allowed chroma quaternary tree (QT) leaf node size in luma samples. The processing circuitry determines whether the block size of the chroma block in luma samples is less than or equal to the minimum allowed chroma QT leaf node size in luma samples. In response to the block size of the chroma block in luma samples being less than or equal to the minimum allowed chroma QT leaf node size in luma samples, the processing circuitry determines that a QT split is disallowed for the chroma block.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for video coding using Intra prediction are disclosed. In one method, a first prediction sample in an immediately right column of the current block and a second prediction sample in an immediately below row of the current block are derived using angular prediction. The first prediction sample and a left column reference sample in the same row as the first prediction sample are interpolated to generate a horizontal predictor. The second prediction sample and an above-row reference sample in the same column as the second prediction sample are interpolated to generate a vertical predictor. The vertical predictor and the horizontal predictor are linearly combined to generate an angular-planar prediction sample. In another method, a first predictor is generated using angular prediction and a second predictor is generated using planar prediction. The first predictor and the second predictor are linearly combined to generate a fused Intra predictor.

    Abstract: Innovations for signaling state of a decoded picture buffer (“DPB”) and reference picture lists (“RPLs”). In example implementations, rather than rely on internal state of a decoder to manage and update DPB and RPLs, state information about the DPB and RPLs is explicitly signaled. This permits a decoder to determine which pictures are expected to be available for reference from the signaled state information. For example, an encoder determines state information that identifies which pictures are available for use as reference pictures (optionally considering feedback information from a decoder about which pictures are available). The encoder sets syntax elements that represent the state information. In doing so, the encoder sets identifying information for a long-term reference picture (“LTRP”), where the identifying information is a value of picture order count least significant bits for the LTRB. The encoder then outputs the syntax elements as part of a bitstream.
