  • Patent number: 11065707
Abstract: Embodiments of systems and methods for supporting predictive and preventative maintenance are disclosed. One embodiment includes manufacturing cells within a manufacturing environment, where each manufacturing cell includes a cell controller and welding equipment, cutting equipment, and/or additive manufacturing equipment. A communication network supports data communications between a central controller and the cell controller of each of the manufacturing cells. The central controller collects cell data from the cell controller of each of the manufacturing cells, via the communication network. The cell data is related to the operation, performance, and/or servicing of a same component type of each of the manufacturing cells to form a set of aggregated cell data for the component type. The central controller also analyzes the set of aggregated cell data to generate a predictive model related to future maintenance of the component type.

  • Patent number: 11043809
Abstract: Methods for controlling an integrated renewable energy source (RES) and energy storage system (ESS) of a RES-ESS facility having a point of grid interconnect (POGI) limit are provided. A forecast for energy production of the RES as well as a state of charge (SOC) schedule are used to calculate a SOC target-based POGI cap that is less than the POGI limit, with the SOC target-based POGI cap representing as low a peak power output value as possible while still ensuring satisfaction of the SOC schedule. The forecasted RES production, SOC schedule, and SOC target-based POGI cap are used to generate a time-varying charge/discharge control signal for the ESS that ensures the SOC schedule is satisfied.

  • Patent number: 11028864
Abstract: A control loop for a double-acting pneumatic actuator is configured to generate two control signals, one for each of the two pneumatic chambers for the purpose of controlling the actuator position in view of operating constraints on the chamber pressures or the stiffness of the actuator. A numerical indicator of the stiffness may be computed in a variety of ways, for example, as the average of the two chamber pressures. In one embodiment a numerical indicator of stiffness is treated as an output of the system along with the position of the actuator. A multi-input multi-output control loop with position and pressure feedback may be used to simultaneously control the position and the stiffness of the actuator.

  • Patent number: 10942494
Abstract: Described is a method for determining when to transition devices between different states based on determined potential activity in an area near the devices. When the potential for activity near an input device is below a threshold, the device is maintained in an inactive state. When the potential for activity near the device exceeds the threshold, the device is transitioned to an active state before the potential activity can occur near the device. Likewise, when the device is in an active state, the implementations described herein provide the ability to determine when to begin and end transmission of data from the device to a remote computing resource for processing. For example, obtained video may be processed locally to determine if an activity is occurring. If an activity is occurring, relevant data is sent to a remote computing resource to determine if an action has been performed during the activity.
