  • Patent number: 9510173
Abstract: Systems and methods for filtering emergency broadcast messages. One embodiment is User Equipment (UE) that store rules for filtering emergency broadcast messages. The UE receives an emergency broadcast message over a paging channel of a mobile network, identifies a class indicator assigned to the emergency broadcast message, selects one of the rules based on the class indicator assigned to the emergency broadcast message, and determines whether the emergency broadcast message is authorized for presentation on the UE based on the rule. The UE then ignores the emergency broadcast message responsive to a determination that the emergency broadcast message is not authorized for presentation.

  • Patent number: 9491011
Abstract: A signaling system supports main and auxiliary communication channels between integrated circuits in the same direction over a single link. An equalizing transmitter applies appropriate filter coefficients to minimize the impact of intersymbol interference when transmitting the main data over a communication channel. The transmitter modulates at least one of the filter coefficients with the auxiliary data to induce apparent ISI in the transmitted signal. A main receiver ignores the apparent ISI to recover the main data, while an auxiliary receiver detects and demodulates the apparent ISI to recover the auxiliary data. The auxiliary data may be encoded using spread-spectrum techniques to reduce the impact of the auxiliary data on the main data.

  • Patent number: 9485119
Abstract: The present invention is directed to data communication. More specifically, embodiments of the present invention provide an offset correction technique for a SERDES system. A CTLE module for receiving input data signal is set to an isolation mode, and one or more sense amplifiers perform data sampling asynchronously during the isolation mode. During the isolation mode, CLTE(s) that are not directly connected to the sense amplifiers are shut. Data sampled during the isolation mode are used to determine an offset value that is later used in normal operation of the SERDES system. There are other embodiments as well.

  • Patent number: 9485620
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for delivering emergent event notifications to a user's Mobile Device. Map and Calendar applications are polled with correlations made between map locations and event information. Geo-Fence Boundaries are established for map locations which are inherited by their associated events. Penetration of a Geo-Fence Boundary by a Mobile Device running the Mobile Application triggers a search for events that are associated with the established Geo-Fence Boundary. Filtered Notifications of event options of interest to the user are transmitted to the Mobile Device based on pre-established and dynamic variables and whether the user can arrive at the event while it is underway. Upon selection of an event by the user, the Mobile Device provides route and navigation guidance to the selected location.

  • Patent number: 9474034
Abstract: A digital data communications mechanism includes multiple parallel lines, in which components of one or more lines are temporarily powered down to save power. Preferably, both the transmitter and receiver contain respective generators generating identical pre-determined pseudo-random bit streams, which are initially synchronized and which remain powered up when the line is temporarily powered down. Upon re-powering the line, the transmitter transmits the locally generated bit stream, and the receiver compares the received bit stream with its internally generated bit stream to determine an amount of shift required for re-synchronization.

  • Patent number: 9451425
Abstract: A unified message delivery between multiple devices is disclosed. Sending messages through a local communications link, such as but not limited to at least one of a Bluetooth connection and a peer-to-peer WiFi connection, can lead to faster transmission times and reduced server load. When the local communications link is unavailable or not suitable, the messages can be sent through a network and a push server. In some examples, messages can be sent through both the local communications link and through the network and the push server. Duplicates of a received message can be avoided by utilizing indicators. In some examples, one or more devices can include queue(s) to ensure ordered delivery of a plurality of messages when a local communications link and network connection become unavailable.

  • Patent number: 9450715
Abstract: A system for carrier phase recovery, including a receiver for receiving one or more frames of L symbols. A phase estimator performs carrier phase estimation for the received frames of L symbols, and the resulting carrier phase estimates are stored in a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium. One or more rotators de-rotates the received frames of L symbols by one or more of the carrier phase estimates, and a data processor calculates a sum of the outputs of the L de-rotated signals raised to an nth power, and determines a real part of the sum. A minimum determination device determines a minimum of the real part of the sum with respect to the carrier phase estimates, and phase unwrapping and multiplier removal is performed if a minimum has been determined.
