  • Patent number: 9870713
Abstract: Detection and prevention of unauthorized exchange of information between users of user devices is disclosed. Monitoring data associated with respective information received by the user devices from respective users may be received. Position information indicating proximity or relative positions of the devices may also be received. The monitoring data and/or the position information may be analyzed to determining whether unauthorized information exchange between users may be occurring. One or more metrics indicating a likelihood that unauthorized information exchange is occurring may be generated based on the analysis of the monitoring data and/or the position information. A generated metric may be compared to an associated threshold and preventive measures for deterring unauthorized information exchange may be identified based on a result of the comparison.

  • Patent number: 9865173
Abstract: These teachings are applicable for use with an individual who faces problems with respect to forming new long term memories. Generally speaking, pursuant to these various embodiments, one automatically captures (101) a record of experiential content to which the individual is exposed during a given episode and then automatically associates (102) that record of experiential content with metadata that characterizes the given episode. This record of experiential content is then automatically used (103) to re-expose the individual to at least portions of the given episode to thereby encourage development of a long term recollection of at least a portion of the given episode. These teachings will accommodate a variety of experiential content modalities including both audio content and visual content.

  • Patent number: 9858828
Abstract: Embodiments can provide dynamic assessment by an expert system software (ESS) module. The ESS module may determine a minimum set of diagnostic questions to identify a student's strengths and/or weaknesses for a given subject matter. Each diagnostic question may be a unique question variant generated from a dynamic question template. The ESS module may automatically and dynamically build a personal lesson plan that includes lessons on topics of the subject matter that the student has not mastered. The ESS module may dynamically modify the personal lesson plan to change a lesson and/or add lesson(s) considered by the ESS module as necessary for the student to master the subject matter. Given the ESS module's knowledge on various components of a question such as equation(s) used to produce a correct answer to the question, the ESS module may generate image(s), customized hint(s), customized explanation(s), and/or examine student solutions in step-by-step fashion.

  • Patent number: 9852649
Abstract: A method using a spatial-temporal software game for both teaching math concepts to a child and for scoring the child's proficiency in these math concepts. These scores are compared with the child's performance on a language-based test of the math concepts. If the child's score on the language-based test is lower than what is reflected by the child's game scores, instruction is given the child using stories and flashcards related to the spatial-temporal software games so that the child will relate vocabulary terms with the math concepts and characters in the temporal-spatial software game.

  • Patent number: 9818309
Abstract: A hydration level measurement system and method comprising a technology embedded scale that rewards individuals for drinking an appropriate amount of liquid throughout the day. In an example embodiment, a reusable water bottle is equipped with an RFID tag and assigned to an individual so that the user's hydration level may be tracked. The RFID tag logs the individual's access as well as “before-filling” and “after-filling” weights of the bottle when placed on the scale. A computer screen acknowledges the bottle's owner, and then indicates the increased weight and how many points will be awarded to the user using an ounces-to-points conversion. Data may be transferred from the scale computer to a web server and aggregated at the server from multiple scales for multiple “hydration challenges.” A web application receives and processes user requests to display data related to each hydration challenge such as the current scores of the participants.

Abstract: An educational system for visualizing sound by a student in a laboratory. The system includes a speaker powered by an audio amplifier. A function generator or a microphone controls the amplitude and frequency of pressure waves originating from the speaker. A model of the ear canal is suspended over the speaker, the model having a plastic pipe with two open ends and a membrane stretched taut over one of the open ends with constant tension. A mirror is affixed to the membrane, creating a mass-loaded membrane. A laser pointer emits light directed toward the mirror. A screen receives a light reflection pattern created by the light reflected from the mirror, with the model ear canal, speaker, membrane, and mirror placed equidistant between the screen and the laser pointer.
