  • Patent number: 9655057
Abstract: Apparatus and techniques are presented for estimating a noise floor experienced by a client device seeking to associate with an access point in a wireless network. A path loss between the client device and the access point may be estimated. A metric may then be generated, where the metric estimates a strength of a signal transmitted from the access point as received at the client device. The transmit power at the access point may then be adjusted, based on the metric.

  • Patent number: 9648520
Abstract: A method of processing data associated with mobility of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless network is described. A mobility management entity (MME) starts an activation procedure for a default bearer for a packet data network (PDN) connection associated with a local Internet protocol access (LIPA). If a base station rejects an establishment of the default bearer for the PDN connection associated with the LIPA due to a triggered handover, the MME transmits a PDN connection reject message including a cause value, and releasing a network resource allocated for the activation procedure.

  • Patent number: 9648606
Abstract: The invention relates to a method, apparatus and system for configuring control channels in a mobile communication network and a mobile station. In order to suggest another improved scheme for configuring control channels, in particular control channels related to the transmission of user data the invention suggests aligning the size of the control channel information of different formats to an equal number of coded control channel information bits and/or modulation symbols for each control channel. The control channels may comprise scheduling related control information. According to another aspect of the invention, the size of the control channel information is aligned by means of modulation and/or coding, however the control channel information is aligned to one out of a set of numbers of coded control channel information bits and/or modulation symbols for each control channel.

  • Patent number: 9603080
Abstract: Various methods and apparatuses are provided to address the need for reduced UE location reporting. In one method, an access network discovery and selection function (ANDSF) server receives (401) location information for a UE from a Long Term Evolution (LTE) Evolved Packet Core (EPC) function. The location information is received from the LTE EPC function instead of being received from the UE. The ANDSF server then generates (402) a policy based on the location information received for the UE and sends (403) the policy to the UE via a first access network. The policy includes an identification of an access point for use by the UE to access an access network different than the first access network.
