  • Patent number: 6361335
Abstract: An improved inserter/ejector device is disclosed for the insertion or removal of printed circuit boards (PCBs), particularly in environments in which many such boards are to be located in close proximity. In such environments, it is often difficult, if not impossible, to reach between boards so that one may be inserted or removed without damaging others. The inserter/ejector provides various improvements over the prior art, for example, the PCB may attached on either side of a mounting portion using a threaded boss, and the device implements a lockable lever arm to ensure that the PCB is not accidentally removed. The present invention also features a guide pin which, when mated to a corresponding hole in a host system chassis, serves to positively locate the PCB relative to the host system chassis for proper insertion. The inserter/ejector further includes a label area molded into the lever arm for clearly identifying the attached PCB.

  • Patent number: 6358101
Abstract: The present invention relates to a connector wherein a retainer slides from a side direction of a connector housing in which it is to be installed. An object of the present invention is to provide a connector capable of preventing a connector connected in a condition in which the retainer is not installed, and transferred to subsequent processes. As a solution, a housing main body is provided with a slider capable of sliding, the slider is hooked in a regulating position in a condition in which the retainer is not installed on the housing main body, and interferes with detection pins provided on a male connector. Therefore the connection of both the connectors becomes impossible. To the contrary, when the retainer is installed on the housing main body, the slider is transferred from a regulating position to a permitting position by the slider contact part provided on the retainer which does not interfere with the detection pins, and the connection of both connectors is permitted.

  • Patent number: 6354856
Abstract: A first contact portion of each of contact pins is formed with a positioning stepped portion, and a socket body is formed with a positioning engaging portion. While the positioning stepped portion is engaged with the positioning engaging portion in a state where a first spring portion of each contact pin is elastically deformed, the positioning stepped portion is pressed against the positioning engaging portion by means of an elastic force of the first spring portion so that positioning of each first contact portion supporting corresponding one of IC terminals is accomplished relative to the socket body with high accuracy. Thus, dispersion of positions of the first contact portions is diminished among the contact pins.

  • Patent number: 6354845
Abstract: An apparatus for connecting a plurality of electrical circuits borne upon a plurality of substrates is disclosed. A first substrate of the plurality of substrates has a first aperture having a first diametral displacement and a first inner wall. A portion of the first inner wall is electrically connected with a first circuit borne upon the first substrate. The apparatus comprises a sheet of electrically conductive material arranged to a displacement from an axis in a substantially helical orientation about the axis. The material has a spring characteristic when the helical orientation establishes the displacement at a spring displacement. The spring characteristic urges the conductive material to a greater displacement from the axis than the spring displacement and permits insertion of the apparatus in the first aperture. The spring characteristic and the first diametral dimension cooperate to seat the apparatus in the first aperture to establish electrical connection with the first circuit.
