  • Patent number: 11575873
Abstract: The present invention discloses a multispectral stereo camera self-calibration algorithm based on track feature registration, and belongs to the field of image processing and computer vision. Optimal matching points are obtained by extracting and matching motion tracks of objects, and external parameters are corrected accordingly. Compared with an ordinary method, the present invention uses the tracks of moving objects as the features required for self-calibration. The advantage of using the tracks is good cross-modal robustness. In addition, direct matching of the tracks also saves the steps of extraction and matching the feature points, thereby achieving the advantages of simple operation and accurate results.

  • Patent number: 11570455
Abstract: The precision of up-sampling operations in a layered coding system is preserved when operating on video data with high bit-depth. In response to bit-depth requirements of the video coding or decoding system, scaling and rounding parameters are determined for a separable up-scaling filter. Input data are first filtered across a first spatial direction using a first rounding parameter to generate first up-sampled data. First intermediate data are generated by scaling the first up-sampled data using a first shift parameter. The intermediate data are then filtered across a second spatial direction using a second rounding parameter to generate second up-sampled data. Second intermediate data are generated by scaling the second up-sampled data using a second shift parameter. Final up-sampled data may be generated by clipping the second intermediate data.

  • Patent number: 11563951
Abstract: An original input content is subjected to multiple constant quality probe encodes for a defined set of resolutions. In one embodiment, probe encodes encode a few parts of the original source video, for example, 30 seconds from 5 different positions. Each probe encode delivers an average bitrate that is required to achieve the configured constant quality. The mean value of the average bitrate is taken per resolution. This results in a list of bitrates that map to a resolution that would achieve the best quality, a custom bitrate table. Based on the custom bitrate table, an optimized bitrate ladder is computed. The process starts with a configurable minimum bitrate and steps up by a bitrate step size that is between a configurable min and max bitrate step size until the bitrate of the highest resolution is reached.

  • Patent number: 11546613
Abstract: A method for adaptive MV precision is disclosed. According to one embodiment, whether to use or not to use the adaptive MV precision for a current block is determined according to a prediction mode/partition type of the current block. If the adaptive MV precision is used, a current MV precision is determined for a current MV of the current block, and the current MV is encoded or decoded at the current MV precision. If the adaptive MV precision is not used, the current MV is encoded or decoded at a finer MV precision. In another embodiment, a value of a current adaptive MV precision flag is selected for a current block to indicate whether to use or not to use the adaptive MV precision for a current block according to a prediction mode/partition type of the current block.

  • Patent number: 11539977
Abstract: A method and apparatus of Inter prediction for video coding using UMVE (Ultimate Motion Vector Expression) are disclosed. According to this method, a base candidate is selected from an original Inter candidate list, where the base candidate has a base prediction direction. One or more extended candidates are derived by adding one or more offsets to the base candidate, where said one or more extended candidates have a same prediction direction as the base prediction direction. The extended candidates are then inserted into the original Inter candidate list to form an extended Inter candidate list for encoding or decoding. According to another method, the UMVE mode is treated as an additional AMVP (Advanced Motion Vector Prediction) mode.

  • Patent number: 11503304
Abstract: In various embodiments, a perceptual quality application computes an absolute quality score for encoded video content. In operation, the perceptual quality application selects a model based on the spatial resolution of the video content from which the encoded video content is derived. The model associates a set of objective values for a set of objective quality metrics with an absolute quality score. The perceptual quality application determines a set of target objective values for the objective quality metrics based on the encoded video content. Subsequently, the perceptual quality application computes the absolute quality score for the encoded video content based on the selected model and the set of target objective values. Because the absolute quality score is independent of the quality of the video content, the absolute quality score accurately reflects the perceived quality of a wide range of encoded video content when decoded and viewed.
