  • Patent number: 5152412
Abstract: This relates to the provision of a vacuum identifying button of a conventional closure for containers with encapsulated microcapsules containing a suitable dye. While the button is in its depressed, concave configuration, a coating surrounding the microcapsules is cured and caused to bond to the microcapsules. When the button everts to project upwardly and have a convex configuration, the coating is tensioned causing the microcapsules to rupture and release the color forming dye materials thereof. If desired, the evidence of button flipping or tampering may merely be in the form of a colored area, such as a stripe. In a modification, the effected colored areas may be in a design to present a warning or message. For example, a simple message such as "OPENED" may be effected.

  • Patent number: 5152420
Abstract: A container for holding cans (C) or the like includes a base container portion (11) and a cover (12). The base container (11) includes a bottom surface (13) with side walls (14, 15) and a rear wall (16) extending upwardly therefrom forming rims (20, 21) defining an open top for the base container (11). A front wall (17) also extends upwardly from the bottom surface (13) and includes a U-shaped door frame (18) formed at the top thereof. The bottom surface (13) is undulated to form peaks (29) with a valley (30) therebetween configured so as to neatly receive the cans (C). The cover (12) includes a top surface (33) having a downturned rim (34) resting on the rims (20, 21). A living hinge (36) connects top surface (33) to a door (37) which is received within door frame (18). Cans (C) passed laterally through door (37) are automatically stacked on the undulated bottom surface (13) of the base container (11).

  • Patent number: 5152416
Abstract: A plastic container and lid both of resilient material with the container having spaced thread segments below its upper edge and the lid having a central section from which extends an outer sealing section with a curved upwardly sloping inner wall and thread segments on the inside of a skirt wall extending downwardly from the sealing section. Threading of the lid onto the container in a downward direction brings the inner periphery of the container upper edge into an increased contact with the lid sealing section curved upwardly sloping inner wall and the latter also exerts an outward radial force on the container wall to enhance the sealing action and which also tightens the engagement between the lid skirt and container wall in the areas of their mating threads.

  • Patent number: 5152419
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cap for reserve tanks, wherein said cap has a vent path. The cap consists of an upper member and a lower member, wherein an annular rib is defined in the upper surface of the lower member. The annular rib is forced into abutment with the lower surface of said upper member so as to form an inner chamber and an outer chamber between said upper and lower members. A portion of said annular rib is extended in the central direction of the annular rib, and a groove or a hole is formed in the extention of the annular rib, said groove or hole allowing communication between said inner and outer chambers.

  • Patent number: 5152421
Abstract: An end wall for beverage containers, in which the end wall has a center section extending across its width, and reduced thickness side sections on opposite sides of the center section, thereby enabling the end wall to be manufactured with less material than is required in conventional end wall constructions. The center section is of the same thickness as used in conventional container end walls, and is able to support a pull tab and associated pull ring, while at the same time reinforcing the end wall. The reduced thickness side sections are only about one-half as thick as the center section, and all shaping to produce the reduced thickness is performed on the top surface of the end wall, so that the underside remains flat.

  • Patent number: 5150804
Abstract: In accordance with the preferred embodiment, the invention provides a rotationally resistive pail, pail support and coupling. The apparatus includes a pail, and a lid for closing the pail in a closing position, and for supporting the pail in a supporting and locking position. The pail has notches in the base of the pail. The lid has corresponding lugs for vertical interlocking and rotationally resistive engagement with the notches when the lid is in the supporting position. When the lid is in the supporting position, the lid supports the pail vertically and laterally, and the mating engagement of the lid and pail resists relative rotation between the lid and the pail.

  • Patent number: 5150805
Abstract: The apparatus of the invention is applicable to gasholders and comprises a mercury seal, e.g. for a gas holder, which seal provides fluid-tight sealing in an annular space formed between a cylinder and a piston. The mercury is deposited in a reservoir which is inside the piston but which communicates with the annular space outside the piston. In the reservoir, the mercury is subjected to the inside pressure P of the cylinder, and it moves up inside the annular space when the difference between the inside and outside pressure P and Po increases, thereby forming an adaptive fluid seal.

  • Patent number: 5150814
Abstract: A chemical spray tank comprising a bottom wall, front wall, back wall, opposite side walls and a top wall. The top wall of the tank is provided with a fill opening defined by a vertically disposed annular wall member adapted to receive a lid, or cover. An annular channel, or recessed area, extends around the annular wall member and has a bottom wall which is disposed between the upper and lower ends of the annular wall member. The bottom wall of the annular recessed area has one or more closable openings formed therein, so that chemical collected therein may be drained into the interior of the tank to prevent the chemical from flowing on to the ground, which would result in a chemical spill required to be reported.

  • Patent number: 5150808
Abstract: A novel device that can be placed on a car gas cap to connect the cap to the car so that one cannot lose the cap due to forgetfulness or such. The device consists of an elastic body which can be stretched over the cap to allow for added friction grip to enable someone to remove or tighten the cap, and a connector strap assembly consisting of a flexible strap with a means of attachment to the car body. A suction cup is placed on the opposite side of the elastic body from the opening for the cap. This allows the user to attach the cap back out of his way while filling his gas inlet by merely pulling the cap back with the elastic body covering it and sticking out of his way conveniently and easily. Various sizes and shapes of car gas caps can be allowed for by the elastic nature of the device, however to give the best fit it is contemplated that several sizes will be available.

  • Patent number: 5149203
Abstract: A bag or similar portable container having a wall or walls surrounding an internal space accessible through an opening (4) in the bag, the wall or walls incorporating or being lined with one or more layers (6) of high tensile strength and high stretch resistance material such as to be capable of resisting penetration by a bullet. Preferably, a single multi-layer sheet (6) is used to form the wall or walls (9) by folding the sheet at the corners (32), thereby avoiding joins that would be vulnerable to penetration. Preferably, the penetration resistant material (6) is backed up by one or more layers (11) of an impact absorbing material, such as polycarbonate sheet material and foamed plastics material. The layers of penetration resistance material (6) and impact absorbing material (11) may be separately formed as removable inserts that are used to line the bag.
