Abstract: An auxiliary lock comprises a latch assembly having an elongated casing to be received by a first horizontal bore extending into the end of the door. A cylinder mechanism is received by a second horizontal thru bore extending, from one face of the door to the other face of the door and intersecting the first bore. The cylinder mechanism includes a cylinder having a chimney, a cylindrical guard having an annular door engaging surface, an annular lip projecting inwardly from the annular door engaging surface to be received by the second thru bore, a cylindrical segment projecting inwardly from the annular lip, and a strut projecting radially upwardly from one circumferential end of the segment and defining therewith a shaped structure. The strut has a length selected so that the shaped structure lies proximate the bottom of the casing to thereby prevent the rotation of the said guard.

The crib is further provided with foldable devices each pivotally connected between two distal ends of the upper rods, plates each pivotally receiving the other two distal ends of said upper rods and securely receiving a distal end of the pole, seats each securely receiving the other end of the pole and pivotally receiving two distal ends of the lower rods, pivoting blocks each pivotally receiving the other two distal ends of said lower rods and a cover enclosing all of the upper rods, the poles and the lower rods and provided with a handle disposed thereon, such that a user is able to fold the crib by lifting upward the handle of the cover after the foldable devices are activated by the user.

Abstract: A combination screw and clearance drill is provided that in one mode of operation is able to drill a pilot hole for the screw threads through a top piece of material and then screw into a lower piece of material, thus enabling the two pieces of material to be screwed tightly together in a single operation. The screw is designed in such a manner that the ability of the screw to drill a clearance hole for the threads does not substantially effect the gripping ability of the screw. In one direction of rotation the screw is able to drill the clearance hole for the threads of the screw and by reversing rotation the screw is able to stop drilling a clearance hole and function as a regular screw. Flutes in the screw head cut a counter bore for the head when the head contacts the surface of the top piece of material.

Abstract: A frame, sling and hammock is disclosed to be used with a lifting device to support an incapacitated person in an elevated horizontal position as discussed. The device comprises a hanger to connect to a crane, first and second frames cantilevered from the hanger in opposite directions and a net hammock that is looped over the ends of the frames.

Abstract: A bed accessory for the efficient and organized daily storage and retrieval of bedclothes defined by a symmetrically undulating bedclothes storage surface supported by an adjustable wedge assembly and stabilizing leg assembly. When the bedclothes storage surface is pulled from beneath a bed and rotated upward into an erected position, the adjustable wedge assembly, remaining beneath the bed, becomes compressed between the floor and the under surface of the bed, as adjustable stabilizing legs, located on the reverse side, rotate to a position of support. After use, a moderate down and in force applied to the upper edge of the bedclothes storage surface causes the adjustable wedge and stabilizing leg assemblies to rotate to a stowed position for reinsertion of the apparatus beneath the bed.

Abstract: A fastener retention system for a wheel cover of a vehicle that comprises a stud attached to, and projecting axially from, a brake system of the vehicle. The stud includes an outer surface that has a plurality of helical threads disposed thereon. Further included is a lug nut that has an end portion including an inner surface with a plurality of helical threads disposed thereon for screwingly engaging the helical threads of the stud. The end portion of the lug nut includes an outer surface having a plurality of helical threads disposed thereon. Moreover, a nut end, integrally formed with the end portion, is included and has a plurality of ramped teeth disposed radially thereon and opposite the end portion. A decorative cap nut for covering, and fixedly attaching to, the lug nut, is also included in the present system.

Abstract: A screw fixing plug which makes it possible for a screw to be fastened in position with its threads biting into the trunk of the plug over the entire length thereof, irrespective of the material of the member to which a screw is fastened is made. The plug has a trunk formed with a screw inserting bore and a composite hole comprising a sector portion and a groove-shaped portion. The trunk has two rib portions defined on both sides of the groove-shaped portion. When a screw is driven into the plug with the plug inserted in a starting hole formed through an article to be fastened and a building material, the portion of the trunk where the composite hole is formed is expanded uniformly. Thus, the threads on the screw will bite the trunk over the entire length thereof irrespective of the kind of building material, so that the screw can be fastened securely.

Abstract: A wall toggle apparatus (10) for securing a threaded fastening member (18) to a wallboard wall (16) including a saw member (12) having an annular body (20). The body has a central passage (22) extending the length of the saw member and interrupted by a threaded external portion (38) having a slot (40) adapted for receiving the threads of the fastening member. The saw member further includes opposed openings (32) extending through the walls of the body. The leading end of the saw member further includes a plurality of teeth (30) for sawing through the wallboard wall. The wall toggle (10) further includes a toggle member (14) which includes a ratchet portion (54) adapted to receive the threads of the fastening member. The toggle member further includes a central hole (60). In operation the saw member is rotated against the face of a wallboard wall sawing into the wall and creating a hole therein. The saw member is further rotated to secure the saw member therein.

Abstract: A door knob construction featuring a knob and cover to incorporate decorative detail. The knob construction consists of an oval knob body, a shank fastened to the knob body and a cover which fits over the shank to complete the decorative knob assembly. The knob body is hollow to accommodate the lock cylinder and includes a small diameter hole through which the cylinder protrudes. The knob body is secured to the knob shank by fasteners. The shank includes longitudinal ridges to form an interference fit with the decorative shank cover.

Abstract: Anchor unit of this invention is provided with a plug which is driven into an anchor socket or sleeve to expand its split end portion by rotating a bolt which is engaged with the anchor socket or the plug by threads, in a predetermined direction. In one embodiment, the plug is a separable end portion of the bolt which is movable together with a remaining portion of the bolt when the bolt is rotated in the above described predetermined direction and twisted off or separated from the remaining portion when the bolt is rotated in a direction opposite to the above described predetermined direction.

Abstract: A coupler for connecting two axially aligned, rod-like reinforcing members or structural parts and which permits a visual confirmation that successful coupling of the two structural parts has been made. The coupler is fashioned as a sleeve with two opposed open ends, each open end for receivingly engaging a corresponding inserted end of one of the structural parts. The sleeve includes at least one inspection hole or through-hole disposed medial of the sleeve ends. The sleeve further includes a displaceable inspection element disposed inserted within the through-hole and a stop member for limiting the engagement depth of the structural parts within the respective open ends of the sleeve. The inserted structural parts engage the displaceble inspection element and forcibly cause it to displace outwardly of the through-hole and thereby provide a visual confirmation that the two structural parts have been successfully coupled with a desired engagement depth.

Abstract: This invention relates to rescue boards that are constructed of several individual pieces. Such structures of this type, generally, allow the rescue personnel to extricate an unconscious or injured person from a confined space through a small opening and onto a backboard for transport to a medical facility.

Abstract: An oven door locking device includes a male rod fixed to the door and entering a female member fixed to the oven muffle. The female member includes locking members movable radially to engage in an intermediate groove on the male rod when the door is closed. The oven is unlocked by operating a push-button which pushes an internal bearing ring against an unlocking ring which withdraws the locking members from the internal bore of the female member in order to remove them from the groove in the male rod.

Abstract: An easily installed delayed egress lock system that comprises a control module and a latching mechanism attached to the door jamb and a bolt attached to the door. The control module comprises a shell that houses the control circuitry. The latch mechanism comprises a casing that houses a keeper and actuator, two interconnecting channels for retaining the keeper and actuator, and an electrical solenoid. The mechanism also defines a port that receives the bolt when the door is shut. The bolt comprises an elongated body supported by a base and terminating with a spaced-apart head. Preferably, the primary door lock signals the control module when released to start counting down a preselected time period. At the end of the time period, the solenoid deactivates to unlock the door. In the preferred embodiment, the keeper comprises a ball while the actuator comprises a larger ball. The bolt for all embodiments defines a seat that receives the keeper.

Abstract: The armrest of the present invention includes a first horizontal plate provided horizontally with a tabletop, a second horizontal plate jointed to the first horizontal plate by way of a hinge, this second horizontal plate forming a continuous horizontal surface along with the first horizontal plate when the hinge is opened, and the second horizontal plate being folded on the first horizontal plate so that a surface of the second horizontal plate meets a surface of the first horizontal plate when the hinge is closed, and a vertical plate provided vertically to the rear surface of the second horizontal plate. When the person sets a position in which he/she holds both arms down on the sides of the body, the hinge is opened, thus forming one horizontal plane, on which both arms can be laid down. When the person sets a position in which he/she folds both arms across the head, the hinge is closed, and the surface of the second horizontal plate is folded on the surface of the first horizontal plate.

Abstract: The present invention provides a sash lock for double hung windows. The sash lock is fabricated without a spring for biasing the cam into a closed or open position and further without a screw or fastening means to secure the lever, housing and cam together. The four primary components of the sash lock, specifically the lever, housing, cam and keeper mount may be fabricated from injection molded plastic as opposed to metallic materials.

Abstract: A fastener for attaching a first object to the outside of a second object having a hole and a normally inaccessible inner surface. The fastener generally comprises a head portion, a resilient washer disposed in a stepped or double recess in the head portion, and a fastening section connected to the head portion. The resilient washer has a maximum diameter that is substantially larger than the hole, and a contoured or tapered outer surface adapted to engage, be compressed in, and slide through the hole in only one direction. When the fastener is pressed through the hole and the head portion emerges on the other side, the resilient washer springs back to its decompressed size and securely retains the fastener in the second object. Additionally, the washer has a flange that helps retain the washer in the head portion and acts to evenly distribute on the washer any forces exerted to remove a fully inserted fastener.

Abstract: In a collapsible bed structure for bed-ridden invalids, a bed section is provided on an upper open end of a bathtub, the bed section having at least first, second and third bed plates each pivotably connected at their neighboring side. A link structure is provided to change the bed section between a rest position in which the first, second and third bed plates are horizontally supported and an operative position in which the first, second and third bed plates are supported in a chair-shaped configuration within the bathtub. A pedestal plate is pivotably placed at one end by a hinge to the first plate of the bed section, the pedestal plate having a rack operative to move the pedestal plate upward around the hinge so as to raise the haunches of an occupant lying on the bed section to expedite the occupant's divestiture.
