  • Patent number: 8896676
Abstract: A 3D video viewing shutter device receives display response time from a 3D video display device for determining shutter open and close times. Response time may correspond to display type, a particular display and/or a change in pixel illumination levels between frames. The shutter device receives response information during device initialization and/or corresponding to changing pixel illumination levels. A sequence of 3D frames may comprise a pattern of left frames, right frames, blank frames and/or frames comprising a combination of left and right frames. Based on display device and/or shutter device response times, the shutter device may extend shutter transmittance time during a frame display interval into a blank frame interval. Transmittance may be enabled during display of blank frames subsequent to left or right frames. The shutter device and display device may communicate via a wireless link for example, via a Bluetooth wireless link utilizing Bluetooth clocks.

  • Patent number: 8848803
Abstract: The present invention relates to an information processing device and method, and a program that make possible to reduce clock drift that occurs in streaming playback and to perform playback with more stability. An information acquisition part analyzes, using a predetermined method, streams that are held in a buffer, and acquires, as data-amount calculation information, information necessary for calculating a data amount. A calculation part calculates, using the data-amount calculation information, a temporal data amount of the streams that are held in the buffer. A detection part detects, from a result of the calculation, decoder clock drift. When a decoder clock is too fast, a clock control unit controls the decoder clock so that the decoder clock has a speed which is slower than that at present. When the decoder clock is too slow, the clock control unit controls the decoder clock so that the decoder clock has a speed which is faster than that at present.

  • Patent number: 8831108
Abstract: An encoder within a video transmission system controls the bit allocation at a sub-frame level. A frame is divided into smaller blocks, known as rate control blocks. Rate control blocks are used as the basic unit for bit allocation. This bit allocation achieves the target bit rate desired by the system as well as meet latency constraints. The encoder uses the slice partitioning capabilities to generate the rate control blocks using one or more slices of the image frame. This feature allows the decoder to decode the rate control blocks independently and ensures that the encoded data size for each rate control block is allocated. The encoder also detects the overflow condition for the buffer and performing an operation to avoid the overflow condition based on whether the image frame is an inter-frame or a intra-frame.

  • Patent number: 8824555
Abstract: A temporal motion vector predictor is includable, together with one or more spatial motion vector predictors, in a set of motion vector predictors for a block to encode of a current frame. A method of determining the temporal motion vector predictor comprises selecting as the temporal predictor one motion vector from among motion vectors in a reference block of a reference frame different from the current frame. The reference block is a block of the reference frame collocated with the block to encode or a block of the reference frame neighboring the collocated block. The selection is based on a diversity criterion for achieving diversity among the predictors of the set. This can reduce the motion vector memory requirements with no or no significant additional coding efficiency penalty. Alternatively, even if the motion vector memory is not reduced in size, coding efficiency improvements can be achieved.
