  • Patent number: 8515365
Abstract: A signal processing circuit is disclosed, comprising a first node for coupling with a first antenna, a second node for coupling with a second antenna, a third node for receiving a first signal from a transmitting circuit, a fourth node for coupling with a receiving circuit, a signal dividing circuit, a phase shifting circuit, and a signal combining circuit. The signal dividing circuit divides the first signal into a second signal and a third signal, and transmits the second signal to the first antenna. The phase shifting circuit shifts the phase of the third signal to generate a fourth signal for canceling at least part of a coupled signal between the third node and the fourth node. The signal combining circuit combines the fourth signal and a fifth signal received from the second antenna, and transmits the combined signal to the receiving circuit.

  • Patent number: 8515472
Abstract: A method for transmitting IDs of cells of a specific type as physical cell ID information in addition to existing cell ID information is disclosed. For transmission of the physical cell ID information, the number of cell IDs used in transmitting the existing cell ID information on a synchronization channel is increased or a part of existing cell IDs are reserved for transmitting the additional specific-cell ID information. If the number of cell IDs is to be increased, the number of cell ID groups related to a secondary synchronization channel is increased in a manner that removes ambiguity and collision, a cell ID related to a primary synchronization channel is added, which satisfies conjugate symmetry, information is transmitted based on a transmission timing relationship between a primary synchronization code and a secondary synchronization code, or a scrambling scheme is modified.

  • Patent number: 8515483
Abstract: In a conventional cellular wireless communication system that included a plurality of base station apparatuses having a plurality of antennas, just two antennas were used for simultaneous transmission by transmission diversity, and the antenna usage efficiency was low. According to the present invention, a free transmission diversity antenna for transmission to the edge of a cell is used to send a signal to a terminal located around the center of the cell without causing interference to a terminal located around the edge of the cell. The two terminals located around the edge of the cell and around the center of the cell are paired for simultaneous signal transmission. A signal directed to the edge of the cell and a signal directed to the center of the cell are sent with greatly different transmission power. This reduces the interference caused by the signal directed to the center of the cell to an insignificant level for the terminal located around the edge of the cell.

  • Patent number: 8494445
Abstract: Conventional spot beam satellites transmit downlink beams that each correspond to a separate and unique uplink signal. Power available for each downlink beam is typically set by an associated amplifier on the satellite, and total transmit power cannot be dynamically distributed across different spot beams. An embodiment of the present invention overcomes this distribution limitation by using multiple replicas of a single signal as input to a multi-port amplifier that allows transmit power to be dynamically distributed across the different spot beams. The replicas may be de-correlated through techniques such as selectively delaying some of the replicas. This power distribution effectively allows dynamic allocation of capacity between areas serviced by different beams. Offered load in different beams can be predicted and used to set the attenuation values appropriately and the attenuation values may also be controlled remotely.
