Abstract: A display input device according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes display portion, piezoelectric element, drive portion, and detection portion. The display portion includes touch panel that detects touched position on display surface. The piezoelectric element is provided on touch panel and vibrates touch panel. In response to touch panel being touched, drive portion applies a voltage to piezoelectric element to vibrate piezoelectric element. The detection portion detects the voltage value of a voltage generated in piezoelectric element by a pressure being applied to piezoelectric element when touch panel is touched. The smaller the voltage value detected by detection portion is, the larger the voltage applied to piezoelectric element by drive portion for vibrating piezoelectric element is. The larger the voltage value detected by detection portion is, the smaller the voltage applied to piezoelectric element by drive portion for vibrating piezoelectric element is.

  • Patent number: 9065955
Abstract: A power supply control apparatus includes a transition unit, a detector, a first image capturing unit, a command unit, a second image capturing unit, and an identity recognition unit. The transition unit makes a control target enter a power supply state or a power shutoff state. The detector detects a moving object while the control target is in the power shutoff state. The first image capturing unit captures images of a specific area at the time when the detector detects a moving object. The command unit commands the transition unit to make the control target enter the power supply state in a case where it is determined that the moving object is approaching the control target. The second image capturing unit captures a characteristic image of the moving object that is approaching the control target. The identity recognition unit performs identity recognition in accordance with the characteristic image.

  • Patent number: 9052518
Abstract: An optical product that includes a transparent lens sheet, which has a first side with a plurality of side-by-side sets of linearly arranged lenses. Each of the sets of lenses is at a slant angle in the range of 10 to 46 degrees from a vertical or a horizontal axis of the lens sheet. The product includes an image layer that includes pixels from a number of digital images. The pixels are arranged in a pattern of pixel locations providing non-orthogonal interlacing of the digital images relative to each of the sets of the linearly arranged lenses. The pattern of pixel locations aligns a number of the pixels from each of the digital images to be parallel to a line extending through a center of the linearly arranged lenses in each set. Each of the linearly arranged lenses may have a round base, a hexagonal base, or a square base.

  • Patent number: 9053407
Abstract: In image processing, it is possible to suppress density fluctuation and keep graininess low as well as obtain a good balance of the processing load. More specifically, when dividing multi-valued data and generating two-pass multi-pass printing data, divided multi-valued data that is common to the two passes is generated in addition to the divided multi-valued data for each of the two passes. Moreover, quantized data of that common multi-valued data is reflected on the quantized data for each pass. Furthermore, when generating quantized data, a process of generating common data by the aforementioned data division, or a process of performing quantization first without dividing the multi-valued data and then dividing the quantized 2-pass data is selectively performed according to the printing position on printing medium.

  • Patent number: 9030715
Abstract: A sheet conveyance device is capable of detecting a sheet length in a conveyance direction correctly, and of detecting a length of a non-standard size sheet correctly. A detection unit detects front and rear ends of a sheet conveyed with a conveyance unit. A measurement unit measures sheet length in a conveyance direction based on a detection result of the detection unit. An acquisition unit acquires a reference length of the sheet. A computation unit computes a correction value that is used to correct a length measured by the measurement unit based on length measured and the reference length acquired in a correction mode. A storage unit stores the correction value computed. A determination unit determines sheet length corrected based on the correction value and the length measured at the time of conveyance of a sheet in a mode other than correction mode.

  • Patent number: 8982378
Abstract: A method of analyzing failures of a print device may include receiving failure information associated with a print device in a print shop. The failure information may pertain to a plurality of failures experienced by the print device over a period of time. The method may include generating, by a computing device, failure distribution information by, for each pair of consecutive failures in the failure information, determining a time to failure between the pair of consecutive failures, determining a repair time associated with each failure in the pair of consecutive failures, and setting the determined times to failure and the determined repair times as the failure distribution information. The method may include performing, by the computing device, a simulation of processing of one or more print jobs by the print device using the failure distribution information, and displaying one or more results of the simulation to a user.

  • Patent number: 8970870
Abstract: Delivery of scan services of a networked scanning device over a device service port interfaced to the network. An extended XML schema is comprised of an extension to a baseline XML schema which defines baseline functions exposed by the scanning device via the device service port together with baseline parameters for such functions. The extension defines an additional parameter for a predesignated one of the plural baseline functions. A scan job is created by transmission of a request to create a scan job over the device service port. A request for scanner functionality defined by the predesignated function is transmitted to the scanning device via the device service port, with a non-null value specifying a device command for the additional parameter. Data responsive to execution of the device command by the scanning device is transmitted to the client via the device service port.

Abstract: An image reading device includes a light source, a light receiving unit, a generation unit, a white reference member, a color reference member, and a processing unit. The light source emits light to a recording medium on which an image is formed. The light receiving unit receives light reflected by the recording medium. The generation unit generates a light intensity value from the light received by the light receiving unit. The white reference member is used for color calibration for a white balance. The color reference member is used for color calibration to calibrate a predetermined color. The processing unit derives a correlation formula representing variation in characteristics of the white reference member, based on a light intensity value generated when light is emitted to the color reference member from the light source.
