  • Patent number: 6890206
Abstract: The present invention relates to a latching system for an optical transceiver module that eliminates the use of compound latching mechanisms by providing a single latching lever for unplugging the module from its mounting cage. The latching lever includes a pair of arms with a bail handle on one end to facilitate actuation of the latching lever and manipulation of the module. The other end of the latching lever applies a force to the cage to separate first and second mating latching members on the module and the cage, respectively. The fulcrum of the lever is provided by a bend in each arm, which acts like a journal, mounted in a bearing depression formed in the module housing.

  • Patent number: 6887097
Abstract: A button battery is installed in a electronic device such as a signal transmitter and electrically connected by a terminal contacting a flat electrode terminal of the button battery. The terminal has a circular spring-contact member surrounding a terminal base, and the spring-contact member is connected to the terminal base by a pair of connecting portions. The terminal base is fixed to a substrate by soldering. Since the spring-contact member is formed in a circular shape, its length can be made sufficiently long to make its spring modulus low and to reduce spring-load imposed thereon, thereby avoiding plastic deformation of the spring-contact member. The terminal base soldered to the substrate is prevented from being peeled off by eliminating twisting force applied to the spring-contact member.

  • Patent number: 6854981
Abstract: An assembly contained within a housing slideably connects device leads to apparatus terminals with predetermined forces. Parallel slots through the housing contain ā€œSā€ shaped rotatable contacts. The connection force is obtained by compressing two elastomeric members extending through holes perpendicular to the slots and opposite to the contact ends by rotating the contacts. The leads and terminals are opposite and parallel to opposite ends of the contacts, and their connection is provided by this contact rotation. The contact rotations are provided by the nose ends of the contacts extending outward slightly from the slots such that, when the device under test is pressed against the housing, the contacts will be forced within the housing to rotate the contacts and compress the elastomeric members. This provides both a sliding and predetermined force electrical connection between the leads, terminals and contacts.

  • Patent number: 6840795
Abstract: There is provided a connector which is capable of routing a flat cable in a desired arbitrary direction and at the same time preventing the flat cable from being broken. A concave portion is formed in a housing, and a convex portion is formed on a cable-holding member for being slidably fitted in the concave portion. Slits are formed in the concave portion, and projections to be engaged with the slits are formed on the cable-holding member. Thus, directions of rotations of the cable-holding member are restricted such that the cable-holding member can rotate only about a first axis extending in a direction of width of the flat cable and a second axis orthogonal to the first axis and extending in a direction of insertion of the flat cable.
