  • Patent number: 8565181
Abstract: A first uplink signal is transmitted by a mobile station to a base station on a first set of subcarriers in a first OFDM symbol. The first set of subcarriers is modulated with a first signal sequence known to both the mobile station and the base station. A second uplink signal is transmitted by the mobile station to the base station on a second set of subcarriers in a second OFDM symbol. The second set of subcarriers is modulated with the first signal sequence or a transform of the first signal sequence. The second set of subcarriers is modulated with a second signal sequence containing attribute information on a third set of subcarriers of a downlink signal received by the mobile station over a downlink channel. The correspondence between the subcarriers in the third and second set is known to the mobile station and the base station.

  • Patent number: 8537817
Abstract: In one embodiment, a Link State Advertisement (LSA) is received from a first router in a network at a second router in the network. The LSA advertises an address of an interface of the first router. The second router determines whether the LSA includes a transit-only identification that indicates the interface of the first router is a transit-only interface. If the LSA does not include a transit-only identification, the second router installs the advertised address of the interface of the first router in a Router Information Base (RIB) of the second router. If the LSA does include a transit-only identification, the second router declines to install the advertised address of the interface of the first router in the RIB of the second router.

  • Patent number: 8498242
Abstract: Techniques for transmitting beacon signals to assist user equipments (UEs) perform cell search and techniques for detecting for beacon signals are described. In an aspect, cells may be assigned beacon patterns defined based on orthogonal grouping of subcarriers. U subcarriers usable for beacon may be arranged into G orthogonal groups, with each group including S subcarriers. P=SG different beacon patterns may be defined based on the G groups of S subcarriers. In another aspect, the cells may transmit their beacon signals at configurable transmit power levels, which may be determined based on target beacon detection performance. In yet another aspect, a UE may perform overlapping DFTs in order to capture more received power when symbol timing at the UE is not aligned with symbol timing of cells being detected. In yet another aspect, the UE may perform beacon detection with maximal likelihood decoding.

  • Patent number: 8462698
Abstract: A method is provided for searching a route of a mobile node in a short-range communication environment. A first router to which a mobile node belongs acquires a unique address of the mobile node for communication with the mobile node. The first router determines whether the mobile node travels during communication. When the mobile node travels, the first router broadcasts the unique address of the mobile node to one or more neighboring routers and determines whether the one or more neighboring routers include the mobile node. If a second router, which is one of the one or more neighboring routers, includes the mobile node, the second router performs communication using the unique address without an additional address acquisition process.

  • Patent number: 8462665
Abstract: A hardware and/or software facility for durably and securely storing data within a shared community storage network. A user may have a storage device that they intend to share with others in the network. All or a portion of the storage device is registered with the community storage network as a storage node. Once registered with the network, third party data may be stored on the storage node and remotely accessed by third parties. In addition, data stored on the storage device by the user may be stored in the shared community storage network by encrypting the data, adding redundancy, and distributing it to other storage nodes within the storage network. Data that is stored in the storage network is accessible to the user even if their storage device is inaccessible or fails.

  • Patent number: RE44487
Abstract: In an embodiment, a node comprises a packet scheduler configured to schedule packets to be transmitted on a link and an interface circuit coupled to the packet scheduler and configured to transmit the packets on the link. The interface circuit is configured to generate error detection data covering the packets, wherein the error detection data is transmitted between packets on the link. The interface circuit is configured to cover up to N packets with one transmission of error detection data, where N is an integer >=2. The number of packets covered with one transmission of error detection data is determined by the interface circuit dependent on an availability of packets to transmit. In another embodiment, the interface circuit is configured to dynamically vary a frequency of transmission of the error detection data on the link based on an amount of bandwidth being consumed on the link.
