  • Patent number: 9312976
Abstract: In some examples, a method of TDMA-based self-adaptive channel-switching is described. The method may include determining multiple switching thresholds, each corresponding to a respective one of multiple communication devices within a coverage area of a wireless access point (AP). Each of the switching thresholds may be based at least on a first received signal strength indication (RSSI). The first RSSI may indicate a received signal strength at the respective one of the communication devices substantially in the absence of interference. The method may also include determining that a current RSSI at a particular one of the communication devices is less than a corresponding one of the switching thresholds. The method may also include coordinating a transition by the wireless AP and the communication devices from a carrier sense multiple access CSMA mode to a hybrid CSMA-TDMA mode.

  • Patent number: 9307493
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure include systems and methods for management of mobile device radio state. In some embodiments, a method, which can be implemented on a system, allows a network component (e.g., the policy and charging rules function in a UMTS network) to determine whether a mobile device is idle or active. Based on this determination, the network component may modify the behavior of a network element (e.g., a base station, eNode B or Node B) in relation to promotion or demotion of the mobile device's radio state. In some embodiments, the disclosed system can include a client side component on the mobile device which can determine criteria to be used by the network component to govern and optimize changes in mobile device radio state in a manner that conserves device and network resources.

  • Patent number: 9220042
Abstract: A transmission node in a wireless communication network includes a buffer, a transmitting section, a data processing section, a re-transmit queue, and a control section. To avoid duplication of SDUs for re-transmission, PDUs transformed from SDUs by the data processing section are maintained in the buffer by the control section after being transmitted to a mobile node in the network by the transmitting section. Addresses of the SDUs and associated sequence numbers are stored in the re-transmit queue. When handover of the mobile node from the transmission node to another transmission node occurs, PDUs of which the addresses are stored in the re-transmit queue are reverse transformed to SDUs with the associated sequence numbers so that the SDUs can be handed over to another transmission node.

  • Patent number: 8995283
Abstract: When a serving Node B has deactivated Continuous Packet Connectivity and the UE then is reconfigured with a RRC reconfiguration message, it can happen that the UE acts as though CPC is activated whereas the serving Node B, on the other hand, acts as though CPC functionality is still deactivated. In several embodiments of techniques for addressing this problem, previously known signaling messages and/or user plane frame headers are modified to include new indicators/parameters, which are used to signal that a given UE should be expected to have non-uniform behavior with respect to remembering CPC activation status after acting on a RRC Reconfiguration message, because it is a Release 7 or Release 8 mobile station. These new indicators/parameters may also be used by a Node B, in some embodiments, to acknowledge the receipt of an indication from an RNC that non-uniform behavior should be anticipated for a given UE.
