  • Patent number: 9439105
Abstract: A wireless local area network (WLAN) includes a first device and a second device. The first device sends a first frame including a first transmission indicator, which indicates that a service interval is to begin at a certain time. The second device sends an acknowledgement from the second device to the first device indicating receipt of the first transmission indicator. The first device sends a second frame including another first transmission indicator if, after a prescribed time period, the acknowledgement is not received by the first device. The first device also sends a last transmission indicator, which indicates that the service period will end at a certain time. The WLAN and its method of use provide synchronicity between the first and second devices as to the beginning and the end of a service period.

  • Patent number: 9319183
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate conveying decoding statuses in a wireless communication environment. A UE can transmit a plurality of codewords as part of an uplink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission to a base station. The base station can receive and attempt to decode the plurality of codewords. Further, decoding statuses for the plurality of codewords can be determined. Moreover, the decoding statuses for the plurality of codewords can be signaled to the UE. For example, the decoding statuses for the plurality of codewords can be conveyed via a single PHICH. According to another example, multiple PHICHs can convey the decoding statuses. Pursuant to a further example, the decoding statuses can be conveyed at least in part via a PDCCH.

  • Patent number: 9264659
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for managing a video conference between a first device and a second device. The method identifies a first ceiling bit rate for transmitting video conference data to the second device through the communication channel. The method identifies a current bit rate that is less than the first ceiling bit rate. The method receives networking data regarding the communication channel from the second device. The method determines, from the received network data, that the communication channel will sustain an increase in the current bit rate. The method increments the current bit rate. The method iteratively performs the receiving, determining, and incrementing operations until a determination is made that the communication channel will not sustain the increase in the current bit rate.

  • Patent number: 9246641
Abstract: The present invention relates to a transmission of information in a wireless communication network between a radio access node and a relay node, wherein, according to a new ground rule, for each allocated downlink subframe for a down link transmission from the access node to the relay node, an uplink transmission subframe for an uplink transmission is allocated four transmission time intervals later. A downlink subframe is only allocated when a further subframe of the same transmission time interval for a transmission from the relay node to the user equipment is a subframe of a type that indicates to a user equipment that no data are received beyond a control region of the subframe.

  • Patent number: 9240868
Abstract: Systems and methods for improving data transmission rates in communication networks are disclosed. In an 802.11 wireless communication network, where a source node of the wireless network transmits TCP data to a destination node of the wireless network, the destination node does not transmit TCP acknowledgments (ACKs) for the TCP data if 802.11 ACKs indicate that the destination node received the TCP data. If a source outside the wireless network transmits TCP data to the destination node within the wireless network through an intermediate device, such as an access point, the destination node suppresses transmitting TCP ACKs. The intermediate device transmits TCP ACKs as proxy for the destination node to the source. The intermediate device also suppresses TCP ACKs where a source node within the wireless network sends the TCP data to a destination node outside of the wireless network.

  • Patent number: 9215731
Abstract: Techniques for sending a message for random access by a user equipment (UE) are described. In an aspect, the UE may send the message on a control channel for random access and may send a reserved channel identifier to indicate the message being sent on the control channel. In another aspect, the UE may send the message in a protocol data unit (PDU) and may send additional information (e.g., a buffer status report) in the PDU if it can accommodate the additional information. In yet another aspect, the UE may generate a short message authentication code for integrity protection (MAC-I) for the message. The short MAC-I may have a smaller size and may be used to authenticate the UE. In yet another aspect, the UE may send a UE ID of one of multiple types for random access and may convey the UE ID type via a format field in the message.
