  • Patent number: 4518086
Abstract: A display package is formed by a carton which is wrapped around a container. The carton has a top panel, upper panels extending from the top panel, side panels depending from the upper panels and a bottom panel coupled to the side panels along its edges remote from the upper panels. Lower openings are formed in the side panels adjacent the bottom panels, while upper openings are formed in the upper panels adjacent the top panel. Reinforcing flaps extend from opposite side edges of the upper panels and the side panels, and overlie and are secured to surfaces of the upper and side panels adjacent their openings to reinforce lateral edges of the openings. The container is mounted in the carton above the bottom panel, between the side panels and below the top panel and upper panels and is secured by its top extending through the upper openings and its bottom extending through the lower openings.

  • Patent number: 4515271
Abstract: Insert means for forming a void in poured concrete comprises a tubular structure formed of sheet material closed at upper and lower ends by means of an upper closure element and a lower closure element, respectively. The inner surface of the tubular structure presents a helical line of scoring extending between the bottom of the tubular structure and the upper closure element. The upper closure element is formed integrally with the tubular sheet material and constructed at an upper side thereof with holder tab means for handling the insert means and especially for lifting the upper closure element and the pulling away of the tubular structure along the line of scoring to leave a void. The tubular structure is characterized by a tapered configuration which decreases in size from the bottom to the top thereof.

  • Patent number: 4513860
Abstract: A bottle carrier for carrying a plurality of bottles having a body portion and a neck portion and a closure which is attached to the neck of the bottle which comprises a generally flat blank formed of a material that is flexible and elastic. The blank comprises a first part defining a central portion and a second part defining a band which is severable from the first part and is adapted to be stretched about a group of bottles. The first part comprises a plurality of openings in spaced rows for receiving the necks of the containers and engaging the necks below the closures. In order to meet the requirements of adequately securing the bottles in the carrier and at the same time, being able to apply the carrier to the bottles rapidly by automatic machines, the carrier includes the following relationships: (1) minimum widths of the webs between the openings for receiving the necks of the bottles and the periphery of the carrier, (2) the stress on the webs must be less than 550 p.s.i.

  • Patent number: 4512466
Abstract: A surgical instrument organizer for receiving a plurality of stacked instruments of the hinged type and for holding the instruments open, is characterized by a base, a pair of finger ring posts extending upwardly from the base for extension through respective finger rings of the instruments, a shaft separator extending upwardly from the base and between the shafts of the instruments and a tip separator also extending upwardly from the base and between jaws of the instrument. Upper ends of the finger ring posts and shaft separator may be fastened together to retain the instruments on the organizer and maintain the instruments, along with the tip separator, in an open condition. The organizer advantageously supports the instruments during sterilization thereof, with complete sterilization being assured since the instruments are held open, and a forward end and sides of the base extend outwardly of the instrument tips to protect the same against contact and damage.

  • Patent number: 4512470
Abstract: A storage case for a magnetic-tape cassette with a front opening which is covered at the front by a cover pivotally connected to the cassette housing. The case includes at least one positioning element which extends into the front opening of the cassette and is arranged on a bottom surface of a base section near the case rear wall, for positioning the cassette. The distance at the case base between the front side of the positioning element, remote from the rear wall, to the inner side of the rear wall is greater than the distance from the wall portion of the cassette housing adjoining the positioning element to the front side of the cassette front cover. Movement of the cassette inside the case towards the rear wall is thus limited by abutment of the cassette wall portion with the positioning element, so that the front cover remains clear of the case rear wall.

  • Patent number: 4512472
Abstract: Suction tube packages comprising suction tubes arranged in succession, which are placed between two weblike plastic strips sealed to one another, are used for the application of suction tubes to packing containers for e.g. juice or milk. The weblike suction tube packages are provided with transverse cuts between each individual suction tube envelope which facilitate the separation of individual envelopes on application of the suction tube envelopes to the packing container, but increase the risk of unintentional detachment of envelopes from the suction tube package. This risk can be appreciably reduced if the suction tube package is provided between, or on the outside of, the two long strips sealed to one another with two substantially parallel tapes (11,12) situated at some distance from one another.

  • Patent number: 4512471
Abstract: A storage unit for use in storing a prosthetic heart valve in conjunction with a plurality of heart valve orifice measurement gauges that includes separate container units (11 and 12), which container units can be selectively connected and disconnected by a connecting unit (13). Opening units (14) are provided for each container unit (11 and 12) to allow access to secondary container units (16) contained therein. The secondary container units contain separately the prosthetic heart valve and heart valve orifice measurement gauges under sterile conditions. Object indicia (18) are provided on the container units (11 and 12) to indicate the contents and size of the heart valve stored within the storage unit. Substantially opaque package unit envelops the first and second container units (11 and 12), though a window unit (21) is provided to allow visual observation of the object indicia (18).

  • Patent number: 4512461
Abstract: A spherical swollen hydrophillic toric contact lens is converted into a planarized xerogel and stored and transported on a planar or moderately curved base provided with an angle scale in the range of 0 to 180 degrees. The base is formed to locate the lens above the center of the scale with the cylindric axis lying on the lines converting the 0 or 180 degrees with the center of the angle scale. A permeable cover capable of compressing the lens is placed over the lens causing the lens to assume the surface shape of the base in the xerogel state.

  • Patent number: 4512467
Abstract: A case for holding and displaying objects such as drill bits has an elongated and upwardly open box, an insert adapted to hold a plurality of the objects and pivotal in the box about an insert axis between a down position wholly contained therein and an up position projecting upward therefrom, a U-shaped link having a pair of legs pivoted on the insert and a straight bight portion extending substantially parallel to the axis, interconnecting the legs, and of a predetermined bight length between the legs, and a lid pivotal on the box between a closed position engaging over and closing the box and an open position projecting upward therefrom. The lid is formed with a pivot loop through which the bight portion passes and which has a pair of outer edges spaced axially apart substantially by the bight length. Thus the bight portion engaged through this loop cannot move axially relative to the lid.

  • Patent number: 4512463
Abstract: A container to receive draining fluids characterized by a flexible base and sidewall, and a relatively stiff annulus portion surrounding the base and attached to the sidewall to provide a receptacle. The annulus portion, with the sides and mouth of the container draped over and outside it, forms a free-standing perimeter of sufficient depth, diameter and stability to receive fluids being freely drained into it as from an automobile or tractor radiator, crankcase or transmission. When the draining is completed, the mouth of the container may be sealed to prevent leakage. A resealable, flexible tube is incorporated near the base of the container to serve as a drain spout.

  • Patent number: 4512474
Abstract: An improved locking means for display packages of the vacuum-formed type having a first section closable onto a second section to hold articles in an interior chamber formed therebetween and means for locking the sections in the closed position. The improvement comprises locking means having snap-engaging male and female portions. The male portion is formed integrally with the first section and has a negative or zero draft sidewall that terminates in an outwardly projecting widened collar at its crown. A female portion is formed integrally with the second section and has a zero draft sidewall having a narrowed rim around its receiving opening. The widened collar resiliently snap-engages with said narrowed rim at spaced-apart contact points therebetween. The improved locking means is capable of releasably locking a display package in the closed position.
