Patent number: 6674415Abstract: Three lines' worth of an image are displayed on a columnar display unit 11 comprising a plurality (for example, three) of one-dimensional display devices; this image light beam is made incident on perpendicular deflection means 14, and using the perpendicular deflection means 14, this image light beam is deflected and scanned at high speed in directions perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the columnar display unit 11 to obtain a two-dimensional image. A plurality of one-dimensional display devices is used, so that compared with conventional devices in which only a single one-dimensional display device is used, even if the rewrite speed (scanning speed) per one-dimensional display device is slow, good image quality free of flicker can be obtained. By further extending this in a configuration using a plurality of columnar display units, a single image can be divided into a plurality of images and displayed in a row on a screen.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2001Date of Patent: January 6, 2004Assignee: Olympus Optical Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tomoyuki Nakamura, Susumu Kobayashi, Akihiro Kubota, Hiroyoshi Kobayashi

Patent number: 6513938Abstract: The present invention provides a multi-display device that has a plurality of projectors and constructs one image as a whole. Partial images projected on a screen from the projectors overlap to have the edges thereof superposed on edges of adjoining partial images in shared fields on the screen. A sheet interceptor intercepts part of light to be projected on a shared field so that the luminance level in the shared field will agree with the luminance levels in the other fields except the shared fields. An interceptor portion of the sheet interceptor, which intercepts light from the right-hand side of a range on the screen within which a partial image is projected, can be displaced horizontally relative to an interceptor portion thereof that intercepts light from the left-hand side thereof.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2001Date of Patent: February 4, 2003Assignee: Olympus Optical Co., Ltd.Inventors: Akihiro Kubota, Yasuhiro Komiya, Masaki Higurashi

Publication number: 20020011968Abstract: A multi-display apparatus comprises a screen, and a plurality of projectors arranged in at least two columns horizontally and at least two rows vertically. Optical axes of the plurality of projectors corresponding to each column are placed on the same plane and longitudinal angles &thgr;1 and &thgr;2 of the optical paths are made difference as least between two rows. Employing this arrangement enables the plurality of projectors corresponding to respective rows and columns to be positioned as if they form a single light source, prevents the problem of mutual interference between the projection optical paths caused when a given projector enters the projection optical paths of the projectors of each row or column when reflecting mirrors are used, and enables a compact multi-display apparatus to be made.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 25, 2001Publication date: January 31, 2002Applicant: Olympus Optical Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tadashi Nishio, Akihiro Kubota, Fujio Kosaka
