    Abstract: A stator includes a stator-core having slots and teeth, and a back-yoke having convex and concave portions. The convex portions are partially inserted into the slots, and the concave portions receive the teeth. The teeth include tip portions whose circumferential widths become larger along a radial direction from the inside to the outside of the stator. The back-yoke includes convex portions whose circumferential widths become larger along the radial direction from the outside to the inside of the stator. The tip portions and the convex portions have substantially the same shape. The length of a joint portion between the tip portion and the convex portion, the circumferential width of the tooth corresponding to a tip surface of the convex portion, the width of a root portion of the tooth, and the circumferential width of the convex portion corresponding to a bottom face of the concave portion are substantially the same.

    Abstract: A mode control section controls an image generation section to operate in a normal mode or a polarized light component reduction mode on the basis of a mode signal from a mode signal generation section to cause the image generation section to form a normal image or a polarized light component reduced image. When the possibility of occurrence of stray light is high, the imaging device automatically switches to the polarized light component reduction mode and when the possibility of occurrence of the stray light is low, the imaging device automatically switches to the normal mode. The polarized light component reduced image is obtained by reducing or eliminating stray light having a polarized light component, and the normal image is formed without reducing the stray light. Thus, the imaging device is capable of automatically switching between the two modes.

    Abstract: A sequentially joined segment armature coil is provided which may be employed in an ac machine such as an ac motor or motor generator. The armature coil is equipped with three phase coils each of which is made up of a first and a second phase windings identical in number of turns. This structure permits the number of turns of the armature coil to be changed easily by changing a connection of the first and second phase winding between a series connection and a parallel connection or changing a connection of the phase coils between a star connection and a delta connection. The structure also enables terminal leads of the first and second phase windings of each of the phase coils to be collected and withdrawn outside the ac machine, thus facilitating ease of arrangement of the terminal leads.
