  • Patent number: 8019997
Abstract: The present invention relates to an information processing apparatus by which a communication channel providing a high degree of privacy is established between a PDA and a data communication server. Data encrypted with a temporary key is shared by a PDA and a memory card. The memory card decrypts the data by the shared temporary key, and then stores the data in the memory card. Data encrypted with a temporary key shared by a PC and the memory card. The PC decrypts the data by the shared temporary key, and then stores the data in the PC. The PC and the data communication server are connected to each other, and perform mutual authentication. The data encrypted with a temporary key shared by the PC and the data communication server as a result of the authentication is transmitted from the PC to the data communication server via a broadband network.

  • Patent number: 7801818
Abstract: The present invention relates to a content-providing system, information-processing apparatus, information-processing methods and programs which are capable of keeping up with changes in content value. A license server 221 transmits a utilization condition and a price table to a terminal 211. The terminal 211 has set contents stored in advance in a database 212. In an offline environment, the terminal 211 is capable of utilizing desired contents by using an electronic point count. The terminal 211 transmits information on contents used by the terminal 211 to the license server 221. The license server 221 collects a history of utilizations of contents in the terminal 211, extracts apparatus favorite contents for the terminal 211 from a database and properly transmits the favorite contents as well as price data reflecting changes in price to the terminal 211. The present invention is thus suitable for a system for providing contents.

  • Patent number: 7487552
Abstract: A signal transmission method applicable to prevention of modification or alteration of the playback mode information, such as copying management information or charging information. The playback mode information form a terminal is data-converted for ciphering by a playback mode information appendage circuit in a header appendage circuit responsive to the key information from a terminal and the resulting information comprised of the data and the playback mode information is outputted. The reproducing side effects data conversion on the ciphered playback mode information for deciphering, by a playback mode information detection circuit in a header separation circuit, using the key information from a terminal, for taking out the original playback mode information at a terminal.

  • Patent number: 7401228
Abstract: A data transmitting method, a data recording apparatus, a data record medium and a data reproducing apparatus are provided to disallow the encryption to be easily decoded and keep the secrecy of key information higher. The data transmitting apparatus includes an error correction coding process block. In the block, an input converting circuit operates to perform a logic operation with respect to the information data from an interface circuit 12 according to the key data. The converted information data is sent to an encoder 15 for generating parity data. This parity data is mixed with information data before conversion in a mixing circuit. The error correction coding block operates to send the resulting data to a modulating circuit 17 for modulating the data. The modulated data is recorded on a disk record medium.

  • Patent number: 7380132
Abstract: An input is ciphered in at least one of a sector forming circuit 13, a scrambling circuit 14, a header appendage circuit 15, an error correction encoding circuit 16, a modulation circuit 17 and a synchronization appendage circuit 18, used for processing input data for forming a recording signal. Not only key for ciphering itself in the circuits but also the information as to which of the circuits has been used for ciphering becomes the key for ciphering. This realizes ciphering difficult to decode by a simplified structure.

  • Patent number: 7299199
Abstract: The present invention relates to an information-processing system, an information-processing apparatus and an information-processing method. At a step S1, a PDA transmits a request for purchase of a content to a server. At steps S11, S12 and S14, the server receives the request for purchase of a content from the PDA and transmits the content to the PDA. At a step S5, the PDA transmits a request for preservation of the content to the server. At a step S16, the server generates a preservation ID based on a user ID for identifying the user of the PDA and based on a content ID for identifying the content, and issues the preservation ID to the PDA. At the next step S17, the server stores the issued preservation ID in a preservation-ID database by associating the preservation ID with the content ID. At a step S6, the PDA receives the issued preservation ID from the server and stores the preservation ID in a memory. The present invention can also be applied to an information management system.
