Abstract: A cell selection system is for selecting a cell to be used for communications by a mobile terminal (1) in a network having a cell of a mobile phone network and a plurality of WLAN cells included in the cell. Broadcast information including cell selection information is transmitted in the cell of the mobile phone network. This cell selection information has cell change judgment parameters whose patterns are less than the WLAN cells. The mobile terminal (1) reads the cell selection information from the broadcast information of the mobile phone network, uses broadcast information of a WLAN to determine a parameter to be used for judgment on cell selection to the WLAN cell concerned, and judges by the determined parameter whether the cell can be changed or not. A cell reselection system is provided which can restrict the amount of data in the broadcast information even with an increase in the number of WLAN cells included in the cell of the mobile phone network.

  • Publication number: 20100165905
Abstract: It is possible to provide a core network device, a radio communication base station device, and a radio communication method which can improve the radio resource use efficiency of the entire network without increasing UE battery consumption. According to the devices and the method, a user quantity counting unit (163) of UPE (160) counts the number of UE which have performed a position registration in each position registration area containing a plurality of cells. A user quantity comparing unit (164) selects MCT if the counted UE quantity is not smaller than a predetermined threshold value and SCT if the counted UE quantity is smaller than the predetermined threshold value, thereby appropriately performing switching between SCT and MCT in accordance with the UE quantity. Only when the SCT is selected by the UPE (160), eNB counts the number of users in the cell managed by the local device.

  • Publication number: 20090270100
Abstract: Disclosed are a radio communication terminal device for reducing a power consumption needed for releasing an RRC Connection after a position registration, a network device, a mobile communication system and a position registering method. In this position registering method, in case the RRC state of a UE is in an Idle state at ST501, the UE sets flag=1, whereas the RRC Connection is established between the UE and a UTRAN. The flag set at ST501 is sent at ST504 to the UTRAN, and the flag received by the UTRAN is stored at ST505. At ST507, an RA Update Accept received by the UTRAN is sent to the UE, and the RRC Connection is released in case the value of the flag stored at ST505 is 1. When the UE receives a DOWNLINK DIRECT TRANSFER, on the other hand, the RRC Connection is released in case the value of the flag set at ST501 is 1.

  • Publication number: 20090213775
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling the transmission of feedback of mobile terminals receiving via an air interface of a mobile communication system a multicast or broadcast service transmitted or forwarded by a feedback control entity and to a mobile terminal, the feedback control entity using this method. Further, a communication system comprising a feedback control entity and a mobile terminal receiving a multicast or broadcast service is provided. To enable configurable and adaptive feedback for multicast or broadcast services provided via an air interface maintaining the end-to-end session concept the invention suggests that a feedback control entity deterministically selects a subset of the mobile terminals of the mobile communication system and which receive the multicast or broadcast service for providing feedback to the feedback control entity.

  • Publication number: 20090129313
Abstract: There is provided a control station device capable of suppressing a traffic amount by discarding packet data to be discarded by a control station device, without transmitting the packet data from the base station device to the control station device. In this device, a buffer (102) stores upstream packet data and discards it without outputting it when a predetermined time has elapsed after the storing of the upstream packet data. According to maximum wait time information, a timer management unit (106) makes an instruction to discard the upstream packet data which is to be discarded even if transmitted to an RNC, without transmitting it to the RNC (122). An alignment buffer (112) corrects the upstream packet data order inversion and discards the upstream packet data for which the maximum wait time has elapsed. A timer management unit (113) sets the maximum wait time and instructs the alignment buffer (112) to discard the upstream packet data for which the maximum wait time has elapsed.

  • Publication number: 20090011795
Abstract: Provided are a radio communication base station device, a radio communication terminal device, and a radio communication system capable of reducing the processing load of a base station and an access gateway in a cell reselection process. When desynchronization between a terminal (150) and a source base station is detected, the terminal (150) performs a narrow-region cell search for an adjacent base station connected directly to the source base station. If no adjacent base station is detected, a wide-region cell search is performed for other than the adjacent base station. A base station detected is made as a target base station and a cell update is requested. The source base station transmits terminal information to the access gateway after a timer has counted up the time required for the narrow-region cell search at the terminal.
