  • Publication number: 20080311923
Abstract: The invention relates to methods for establishing a radio bearer between a network element terminating radio resource control protocol and a mobile terminal. The invention provides RNC for establishing a radio bearer between the RNC and a mobile terminal, especially adapted mobile terminals and a system comprising the network element and at least one mobile terminal. In order to reduce the delays implied by the signaling in the procedure the invention proposes two mechanisms. The first mechanism aims at reducing the delay implied by setting up the radio link for the radio bearer by preconfiguring a pool of resources comprising a set of at least radio bearer configuration and making the available radio bearer configurations known to the mobile terminals. The second mechanism aims at avoiding the delay implied by the explicit assignment of a radio network temporary identifier by signaling a set of available identifiers from which the mobile terminal may choose an identifier.

  • Publication number: 20080291866
Abstract: A control station apparatus ensures that, even if transmission times are changed and set, data of channels can be acquired at the receiving end. In this apparatus, a synchronization part (102) uses an RFN counter value and a BFN counter value to synchronize an RNC with a Node (B). An NBAP part (104) sets a changed interval variable and decides, from information of an SFN counter value and a CFN counter value with which the RFN counter value is synchronized, a timing at which to change the changed interval, and transmits, as operation time information, the decided timing to the Node (B). An FP part (107) repetitively transmits the same MCCH data to the Node (B) in a predetermined period for each of changed intervals, while transmitting MICH data to the Node (B) at a predetermined timing.

  • Publication number: 20080170504
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for providing measurements on a bit-rate provided to scheduled data having a guaranteed bit-rate and being transmitted on at least one dedicated uplink data channel by at least user equipment via a C-RNC. Further, the invention also relates to a method for initiating congestion control for scheduled data of at least one guaranteed bit-rate priority class in a mobile communication system. Moreover, the invention relates to a C-RNC as well as a serving radio network controller performing these methods. To enable the C-RNC within a mobile communication system to perform congestion control for uplink transmissions having a guaranteed bit-rate the invention suggests to provide the C-RNC with a bit-rate being provided to scheduled data of the guaranteed bit-rate priority class using common or dedicated measurement procedures. This provided bit-rate is evaluated and taken as a basis for deciding on whether congestion control for data of the priority class needs to be performed.

  • Publication number: 20070237109
Abstract: There is provided a mobile communication system capable of improving the throughput. In this system, a radio base station device (1022) waits for an upstream retransmission packet for a predetermined period of time before the moment when the retransmission time out expiration time has come and transmits a retransmission wait release request to a radio network control device (1031). When the radio base station device (1022) receives a retransmission wait release response instructing to stop the retransmission wait from the radio network control device (1031), it stops wait for the upstream packet retransmission. When the radio network control device (1031) has confirmed that the upstream packet has been received from another radio base station device upon reception of the retransmission wait release request, it creates the retransmission wait release response instruction stop of the retransmission wait and transmits it to the radio base station device (1022).

  • Publication number: 20070224930
Abstract: A radio base station apparatus (10), capable of improving the throughput, receives data transferred from a wireless network control apparatus (30) via a wire transmission path having a predetermined band and wireless transmits the received data to a mobile terminal apparatus via a wireless transmission path. In the radio base station apparatus (10), a band usage ratio measuring part (109) measures the usage status of the band of the wire transmission path. A first upper limit value setting part (110) sets, based on a result of the measurement by the band usage ratio measuring part (109), a first upper limit value of the transfer rate of the data transferred from the wireless network control apparatus (30) for the wire transmission path. An FP rate deciding part (111) decides, based on the set first upper limit value, the transfer rate.

  • Publication number: 20070223495
Abstract: A control station apparatus capable of suppressing an increase of the traffic amount and also capable of preventing an increase of overheads during data transfer even when the transmission time interval is shortened. In this apparatus, a data frame processing part (102) makes up a MAC-d PDU from an EDCH FP MDC data frame. A control frame processing part (103), in a macro-diversity communication state, selects, from the EDCH FP MDC control frames of a plurality of Nodes B, frames having the same SN, compares CRC results and estimation bit error rates, and selects a frame in which the CRC result is OK and the estimation bit error rate is small. The control frame processing part (103) then makes up an EDCH FP control response frame in which ACK has been established for Nodes B to which the selected frame can be transmitted, while making up an EDCH FP control response frame in which Flash has been established for the other Nodes B.

  • Publication number: 20070140123
Abstract: A control station apparatus wherein the transmission rate of packet data is controlled, thereby suppressing abandonment of packet data, improving the usage efficiencies of wireless and wire lines, and reducing an increase of delay time caused by buffering. In the apparatus, when receiving, from a buffer part (104), a signal indicating to the effect that the amount of the packet data store in the buffer part exceeds a threshold value, or a signal indicating to the effect that the data residence time exceeds a threshold value, an EDCH FP protocol processing part (102) outputs, to an L1/L2 part (101), a flow control signal that requests a node (B) to reduce the data rate of the packet data coming from the node (B). When the amount of the packet data store in the buffer part exceeds the threshold value, or when the data residence time exceeds the threshold value, the buffer part (104) outputs, to the EDCH FP protocol processing part (102), a signal indicating to that effect.

  • Publication number: 20060227743
Abstract: A packet communication apparatus and a packet communication method capable of suppressing decrease in overall system throughput and preventing communication from being reset or disconnected. An ACK generation section (130) generates an ACK/NACK to indicate whether or not data transmitted on the radio channel has been demodulated correctly. A channel quality measurement section (140) measures channel quality of the radio channel from an AMD-PDU received. According to the ACK/NACK generation situation and the channel quality measured, a WSN determination section (160) determines a WSN appropriate for the channel condition and outputs the WSN to a status PDU generation section (170). More specifically, the WSN determination section (160) determines the WSN, for example, according to the ratio of ACK/NACKs generated in the near past and SIR measurement values. When the status PDU generation section (170) generates a status PDU, it sets the WSN determined by the WSN determination section (160) in the WSN field.

  • Publication number: 20060203760
Abstract: RLC processing section 106 supplies packet data requested for retransmission from a mobile terminal and new packet data not requested for retransmission to buffer 107 corresponding to data amounts controlled in HS-DSCH/FP processing section 108. Buffer 107 temporarily stores the packet data requested for retransmission and the new packet data not requested for retransmission to output at predetermined timing. HS-DSCH/FP processing section 108 detects a receivable data amount of the mobile terminal using CQI, and controls RLC processing section 106 so that the amount of data stored of packet data in buffer 107 does not exceed the receivable data amount of the mobile terminal. It is thereby possible to decrease the number of retransmissions to improve the throughput, and prevent suspension of the communication and disconnection of the channel.

  • Patent number: 6061352
Abstract: A cell disassemble circuit in a cell receiver system detects the number of lost cells from information for detecting cell loss included in received cells, and separates a payload from a header in each of the received cells. The number of lost cells indicates the number of cells lost on a transmission path from the transmission side to the cell receiver system. A buffer stores the number of detected lost cells and data inserted in the payloads. A phase locked loop recovers a source clock corresponding to the rate of fixed rate information based on a use level of the buffer. A counter circuit generates a clock for reading data from the first buffer from the recovered source clock. Also, the counter circuit stops outputting the read clock to the buffer for a time period corresponding to the number of lost cells.
