  • Patent number: 10397143
Abstract: Technologies are provided for preventing transmission of cyclic redundancy check (CRC) errors, and/or other errors, within a computer network that uses cut-through forwarding of network packets. For example, counts of CRC errors can be maintained for network packets processed by network devices. When a CRC error condition is detected based on the counts of CRC errors, cut-through forwarding is disabled on at least a portion of the network (e.g., on one or more specific network ports and/or on one or more specific network devices). While cut-through forwarding is disabled, the affected portion of the network uses store-and-forward for processing network packets. When the CRC error condition no longer exists, then cut-through forwarding is re-enabled on the portion of the network.

  • Patent number: 10240660
Abstract: A flywheel device includes structures allowing the flywheel system to be assembled offsite, transported safely, and installed with relatively few steps. The flywheel includes a rotor and a housing enclosing the rotor, where the housing includes a bottom plate, a top plate and side walls. The bottom plate and the top plate each includes a hole aligned with the center axis of the rotor. The flywheel also includes multiple bearing housings substantially covering the holes of the bottom plate and the top plate that are aligned to the center axis of the rotor. The flywheel also includes posts that physically contact the primary rotational mass of the rotor to prevent motion of the rotor during transport of the flywheel system. Some or all of these posts may be repositioned or removed during installation so that the rotor can spin freely.

  • Patent number: 10225193
Abstract: Encapsulated packets may be generated for different packets transmitted between a source instance and destination instance in a computer system. The source instance and destination instance may be implemented by different physical hosts linked by multiple network paths. Congestion of the multiple network paths may be determined and path-balancing polices may be implemented in response to the determined congestion. Each encapsulation packet comprises contents of a corresponding packet, and one or more data values selected in accordance with a path-balancing policy. The data values added to one encapsulation packet may differ from those added to another. Different network paths to the destination may be selected for different encapsulation packets of a given transmission based at least in part on the added data values.

  • Publication number: 20190068240
Abstract: A correlation apparatus including a sequence generator configured to generate a non-repeating preamble sequence which changes during each of a plurality of time epochs. The correlation apparatus includes a fallthrough correlator having a tapped delay line for receiving a set of complex-valued samples of a received signal. Each of a plurality of complex multipliers of the correlator is coupled to one of the delay line taps. Each multiplier multiplies, during one of the plurality of time epochs, one of the complex-valued samples of the received signal by one of a plurality of matched filter coefficients corresponding to the preamble sequence. A summation module includes a plurality of adders where a last of the plurality of adders outputs a correlation signal. A peak value of the correlation signals exceeds a threshold value when a sufficient correlation exists between the received signal and the values of the preamble sequence.

  • Publication number: 20190068241
Abstract: A signal receiver for receiving a HOPS-based communications signal includes a seed calculator configured to produce a series of seed vectors generated from a corresponding series of sets of key values. A sequence generator provides a series of internally generated sequences using the series of seed vectors. A fallthrough correlator produces a series of correlation values by correlating samples of a received signal and samples of the internally generated sequences. The spreading sequences are used by a transmitter to generate a transmit signal subsequently received as the received signal. A peak detector is configured to generate a trigger signal upon determining that at least one of the correlation values exceeds a threshold value. At least one of a plurality of demodulator chains is selected in response to the trigger signal and used to demodulate the received signal in order to recover data values carried by the received signal.

  • Publication number: 20180309477
Abstract: A candidate arbitrary-phase spread spectrum modulation technique that offers similar performance to spread continuous phase modulation (CPM) waveforms and additional capabilities for programming a chosen frequency domain spectra into the resulting spread spectrum signal. The proposed chaotic-FSK waveform is derived from high-order sequence-based spread spectrum signals, with multi-bit resolution chaos-based sequences defining incremental phase words, enabling real-time efficient generation of practically non-repeating waveforms. A result of the C-FSK formulation is a parameterized hybrid modulation capable of acting like a traditional sequence-based spread spectrum signal or a traditional frequency shift keying signal depending on chosen parameters. As such, adaptation in this modulation may be easily implemented as a time-varying evolution, increasing the security of the waveform while retaining many efficiently implementable receiver design characteristics of traditional PSK modulations.

  • Patent number: 10084697
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for Internet-scale routing using small-scale border routers and IP tunneling are described. Each border router is directly connected to a transit provider. Routing protocol peerings may be passed via the border routers through tunnels to a routing service; the routing service and the transit provider router(s) appear to be directly adjacent routing peers. The routing service receives routing data from the transit provider(s), maintains the routing data in a routing table, and processes the routing data in the routing table to select best paths. A mapping service may be informed, by the routing service, of a best exit point (or points) for each Internet prefix of each packet to be routed on the Internet. Outbound packets from devices on the network to the Internet, and inbound packets from the Internet to the network devices, may be encapsulated and passed through tunnels as directed by the mapping service.

  • Patent number: 10066709
Abstract: A mounting alignment apparatus may include a rail assembly including a first pair of alignment surfaces. The mounting alignment apparatus may also include a slide assembly including a second pair of alignment surfaces. The first and second pairs of alignment surfaces may define an interacting capturing geometry therebetween, permitting sliding movement of the slide assembly relative to the rail assembly along a first axis, and restricting movement of the slide assembly relative to the rail assembly about an axis other than the first axis. The mounting alignment apparatus may also include a tension adjustment assembly coupled between the rail assembly and the slide assembly for positioning the slide assembly relative to the rail assembly along the first axis.

  • Publication number: 20180118410
Abstract: A storage container (10) has a storage vessel (12) and a lid (14). The lid has clips (16) for attaching it to the storage vessel. The storage vessel (12) has a separate lip (20) assembled onto an opening flange (72) of the storage vessel. The lip seals with a circumferential member (18) of the lid (14). The lip 20 thus allows the opening flange (72) to form a seal with the lid (14). This provides greater freedom in the manufacturing techniques used for the storage vessel (12) whilst still enabling a seal with the lid (14).There is also a concertina-type vessel described in combination with the lid.
