  • Patent number: 5699669
Abstract: A water cooler and dispenser employs a ceramic crock containing a thermoelectric unit and an upwardly directed chilling probe extending into a chilling tank. The chilling probe is in heat-conducting relation to a heat sink, underneath which is a circulating fan. A circulating base is made up of a series of support fins arranged in a radial fashion in the bottom of the crock having a specialized arrangement of inlet and outlet ports. The air is circulated upwardly across the heat sink then circulated downwardly and expelled from the crock. In a conventional manner, water is drawn from the lower end of the chilling tank through a spigot extending to the exterior of the crock.

  • Patent number: 5186563
Abstract: A dispenser for the application of a fluid or fluid-like material to another surface, such as, the surface of the skin is made up of an outer casing with an adjustable end cap at one end and an applicator brush at the opposite end, and a bellows-shaped container is disposed in the casing so as to be compressed by inward threaded adjustment of the end cap to discharge the material onto the applicator brush. A duckbill valve at the discharge end of the container automatically opens when a compressive force is applied to the contents within the container and, when force is no longer applied, will return to a closed position sealing off the end of the container.

  • Patent number: 5177826
Abstract: A powered toothbrush is provided with a pair of disc-like rotary brushes mounted for rotation about a axis generally perpendicular to the length of the brush. The rotary brushes are in axially spaced relationship and are provided with inwardly directed bristles. Between the rotary brushes, upper and lower linear brushes are mounted above and below the axis of rotation for linear reciprocating motion generally perpendicular to that axis. The upper brush has upwardly directed bristles, and the linear brushes are mounted to the rotary brushes so as to be brought into reciprocal, linear movement when the rotary brushes are reciprocated angularly.

  • Patent number: 4982997
Abstract: An infant carrier is provided which is capable of being positioned in various configurations in order to suit the various activities in which a infant can be involved. The body of the carrier is movably attached to the base in order that they can be moved to various positions relative one another. In a first position, the body of the carrier and the base are adjacent one another and in a second position the carrier body is moved a limited distance away from the base. In this second position, the carrier body is capable of a bouncing motion which can be activated by the infant's own movement or another person's touch. Preferably additional configurations, such as configurations in which an infant in the infant carrier can be easily fed or carried, are also obtainable.

  • Patent number: 4944117
Abstract: A closure is provided that is directed, in the preferred embodiment, to an adjustable gate suitable for confining or preventing small children or pets from entering a secure area. The preferred embodiment of the gate is comprised of two connected panels that are relatively slidable to accommodate doorways of varying width. A thumb screw arrangement is used to fix the relative positions of the panels when roughly adjusting the gate to a particular doorway. Once the gate is roughly adjusted to the doorway a foot-pedal mechanism residing in one of the panels is employed to cause a pair of contact pads to engage the door jamb. As the foot pedal is depressed the contact pad blocks associated with one side of the gate and the bumpers associated with the opposite of the gate engage opposite sides of the door jamb. Further, depression of the foot pedal causes an increasing normal force to be applied to the door jamb that frictionally fixes or wedges the gate in the door jamb.

  • Patent number: 4836573
Abstract: An apparatus for supporting a child in a reclining position and in a sitting position is provided. A first planar member is suspended from a rim portion and is movable with respect to the rim portion from a first position spaced from the rim to a second position in which an edge of the first planar member is substantially adjacent to an edge of the rim. A second planar member extends from an edge of the rim to the first planar member. In a first configuration, the first planar member acts as a whole body support for a child to provide a bassinet or baby carriage configuration. In the second configuration, the first planar member is provided as a back rest and the second planar member is provided as a seat. The child support is pivotable from a first, generally horizontal position for use as a bassinet to a second, inclined or tilted position for use as a stroller.

  • Patent number: 4777672
Abstract: A children's toilet apparatus is disclosed that is convertible from a free-standing potty chair to a toilet trainer that cooperates with a conventional toilet. The apparatus principally comprises a toilet seat member and adjustable legs which are pivotally interconnected. When employed as a free-standing potty chair, the leg members independently support the toilet seat member. When utilized as a toilet trainer, the leg members are oriented so that the toilet seat member is stabilized on and about the water closet seat of a conventional toilet by virtue of the interconnection of the toilet seat member and the leg members and contact of one of the leg members with a floor surface. In a preferred arrangement, one of the leg members is provided with a step member and hand grips to aid children in positioning themselves on top of the toilet seat member when the apparatus is employed as a toilet trainer.

  • Patent number: 4492263
Abstract: An infant security door gate is adapted for releasable disposition between opposed sides of a doorway and comprises upper and lower expansible support bars which are telescopingly adjustable to conform to the space between the sides and at the same time are spring-loaded so as to yieldingly engage the sides under spring tension at any adjusted position, and a pair of complementary slidably interfitting panels are arranged for adjustable disposition on separate telescoping portions of the support bars so as to follow the expansion and contraction of the support bars to substantially close the opening between opposite sides. The panels are characterized by being of corresponding construction and having complementary slidably interconnecting portions for ease of adjustment, or expansion and contraction, in following the telescoping movement of the support bars.
