  • Patent number: 7382296
Abstract: Aspects of the invention provide a system for a mixed analog-digital automatic gain control. The received analog signal is amplified by the analog amplifier and then converted to a digital value by an ADC. A clamp reference level of the converted signal is removed prior to applying a digital gain to a digital multiplied. Once the digital gain is applied, the clamp reference level is restored to the digital signal. A loop filter determines the system time response from the error between an amplitude parameter of the received signal and an AGC reference level. A gain separation circuit generates the system gain and separates it into a digital gain and an analog gain in a way to maximize the use of the analog amplifier. The analog gain is applied to the analog amplifier and the digital gain is applied to the digital multiplier.

  • Patent number: 7372929
Abstract: A system and method for synchronizing sub-carriers in a signal processing system. Various aspects of the present invention may comprise method steps and structure that receive a sampled signal. Various aspects may produce a synchronization signal based on the sampled signal. Various aspects may generate and store a cropped version of the received sampled signal. Various aspects may read a cropped sampled signal from memory that corresponds to the received sampled signal. Various aspects may generate a restored sampled signal by adding samples to the cropped sampled signal read from memory. Various aspects may, based on the synchronization signal, output the restored sampled signal coarsely synchronized to the received sampled signal. Various aspects may determine a phase difference between the output restored sampled signal and the output received sub-carrier. Various aspects may adjust the phase of the restored sampled signal in response to the determined phase difference.

  • Patent number: 7363304
Abstract: A method and system for sorting a number of items in a computer system. The sort is based on a plurality of values of a key. Each item has a value of the plurality of values. The method and system include providing plurality of stages, providing at least one switch coupled between the plurality of stages, and providing a final switch coupled with a last stage. Each of the plurality of stages has a pair of first-in-first-out buffers (FIFOs) that store twice as many of the items as the pair of FIFOs in a previous stage. Each switch is for merging and sorting a first portion of the number of items from the pair of FIFOs in the previous stage based on the key and for providing the first portion of the number plurality of items to a first FIFO of the pair of FIFOs of the stage in order.

  • Patent number: 7359005
Abstract: In a method and system for component sync detection and alignment, the Y/G channel is used as a master channel from which the vertical and the horizontal syncs are detected by a master sync generator. The master sync generator determines a fast and slow slice level for generating a rough and a fractional detection of the vertical sync and the horizontal sync and also generates a master sync timing window signal. A slave sync generator aligns the Pb/B and Pr/R channels to the Y/G channel by making use of the vertical, horizontal, and timing window sync signals produced by the master sync generator and by generating a slave slice level to detect the vertical and horizontal syncs in the slave channels. Positional differences in the alignment between the master channel and the slave channels are determined and stored for use in subsequent frame alignment.

  • Patent number: 7298418
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the invention disclose a method and system for processing in a non-line locked system. The phase relationship between the sub-carrier signal on consecutive video lines in a video comb filter is determined by synchronizing the two video lines. The synchronization is achieved by aligning the color bursts signals in each of the two video lines. The phase error between the two video lines is determined through the use of a correlation operation. The phase error between consecutive video lines is used to automatically adjust the delay lines used by the video comb filter. The line delay adjustment is provided by changing the values of a variable integer delay and a fractional integer delay. Line delay adjustments reduce the artifacts that occur in the separation of luma and chroma components of a composite video signal.

  • Patent number: 7283176
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining fields in a video signal are disclosed. Historic field ID values for a received video signal may be stored and subsequently utilized by a summer and/or a correlator in order to estimate a field ID value for a current field. The summer may sum all historic field ID values and, if the sum is within a determined range, for example, the field ID value for a current field may be estimated based on the sum of the historic field ID values. If the sum is not within the determined range, for example, the historic field ID values may be correlated with an expected field ID value or with an inverted expected field ID value. The correlation may then be utilized to estimate the field ID value for the current field.

  • Publication number: 20070030352
Abstract: A system and method for determining phase of a subcarrier (e.g., a jittering video subcarrier). Various aspects of the present invention may comprise determining at least one weighting factor based, at least in part, on a subcarrier synchronization signal (e.g., a video synchronization signal). A first subcarrier phase sample and at least a second subcarrier phase sample may then be obtained. Subcarrier phase may then be determined by interpolating between the first subcarrier phase sample and the second subcarrier phase sample, where such interpolation (e.g., linear interpolation) may be based, at least in part, on the determined weighting factor(s).

  • Publication number: 20070014402
Abstract: A method to detect PAL colorstripe utilizing PAL-switch with minimal logic is provided. A first polarity parameter may be generated by adding an averaged U component value of a current PAL line with a first threshold value. The first polarity parameter may be utilized to detect 180-degree inversion or U axis inversion colorstripe protection. A V component of a current PAL line may be averaged and an inverse of the average generated. A PAL-switch signal may be utilized to select between the average V component value and its inverse value. A second polarity parameter may be generated by adding the selected value with a second threshold value. The second polarity parameter may be utilized to detect V axis inversion colorstripe protection. When colorstripe protection is detected, whether based on the first polarity parameter or the second polarity parameter, a colorstripe detection signal may be generated.

  • Publication number: 20050174485
Abstract: In a method and system for 3D comb synchronization and alignment of standard and non-standard video signals, a coarse synchronization is performed on a bottom frame, a current frame, and a top frame based on a bottom frame field count. The current frame is assigned the frame transferred immediately prior to a bottom frame whereas the top frame is assigned the frame transferred two frames. A current frame window signal and a top frame window signal may be used to lock the current frame and the top frame to a bottom frame vertical sync signal. After coarse synchronization, the video frames are finely aligned by correlating a phase difference between the subcarrier signals in each frame and modifying the phase difference until the correlation results in a specified phase locked value range. This method and system may facilitate the handling of video stream switching and non-standard data streams.

The primitives are ordered based on the top of each primitive. The system and method include providing at least one input, a merge circuit, a distributor, a feedback circuit and a controller. The input(s) is for receiving data relating to each primitive. The merge circuit is coupled with the input(s) and adds the data for a primitive having a top not lower than a current line. The distributor is coupled with the feedback circuit, eliminates an expired primitive and outputs the data for remaining primitives after the expired primitive has been removed. The expired primitive has a bottom above the current line. The feedback circuit is coupled to the merge circuit and the distributor and re-inputs to the merge circuit the data for the remaining primitives.
