  • Publication number: 20150217067
Abstract: An inhaler comprising a reservoir of an inhalable composition. A valve element moved by a flexible diaphragm and biased into a position in which it closes a composition flow path from a reservoir. A first air flow path is partly defined by one side of the diaphragm and a second air flow path is partly defined by the opposite side of the diaphragm. Each flow path has an outlet opening at an outlet end and the second flow path has an inlet upstream of the outlet end. The air flow paths are arranged such that suction at the outlet end causes a reduction in pressure in the first air flow path relative to the pressure in the second air flow path creating a pressure differential across the diaphragm that moves the valve element against the biasing force to open the composition flow path.

  • Patent number: 9022039
Abstract: A simulated smoking device (1) comprising a simulated cigarette having a substantially cylindrical cigarette-like shape and a refill device (2, 50) having a substantially cuboid housing with a cigarette pack-like shape containing refill gas (32, 59) for the simulated cigarette and having means for selectively retaining the simulated cigarette. The simulated cigarette may be retained wholly within the housing. It may be retained at a location different from the refill location. A dose counter may be provided to give a visual indication of the doses in the refill device.

  • Patent number: 8505548
Abstract: A simulated cigarette device (1) comprising an elongate housing (3) having an inhaling outlet at one end (5) and a refill inlet. A reservoir (7) extends along a substantial portion of the housing and has a refill valve (6) adjacent to the refill inlet and an outlet valve (9) adjacent to the inhaling outlet, which is operable to allow gas from the reservoir to pass from the reservoir and out of the inhaling outlet. An air flow passage into the housing downstream of the reservoir leads to the inhaling outlet. A valve opening mechanism having a rotatable valve (16,28) is associated with the air flow passage and is arranged to open the outlet valve (9) as air is sucked through the air flow passage.

  • Publication number: 20130061861
Abstract: A simulated cigarette which has a reservoir of an inhalable composition and an outlet valve to control the outlet flow. The outlet end is provided with a deformable material to provide a more realistic feel and optionally to allow the user to vary the flow characteristics in the manner of a real cigarette. The outlet end can also be provided with a chemical heater. The simulated cigarette is wrapped in a paper or paper-like wrap to provide a more realistic feel.

  • Publication number: 20130056012
Abstract: A simulated cigarette device containing a pressurised reservoir of inhalable composition and an outlet valve controlling the output of the inhalable composition. A capillary plug extends from the vicinity of the outlet to fill a substantial portion of the reservoir and is configured to wick the inhalable composition towards the outlet valve.

  • Publication number: 20130037042
Abstract: A simulated smoking device comprising a simulated cigarette having a cigarette-like shape and a refill device. A drawer is provided in the side of the refill device with a recess for the simulated cigarette. A resilient member biases the drawer open to allow access to the simulated cigarette. A latch is releasable by an inward movement of the drawer whereupon the drawer is unlatched and urged by the resilient member to the open position. The latch is automatically engageable upon closure of the drawer to hold the drawer in a closed position against the action of the resilient member.

  • Publication number: 20120138052
Abstract: An inhaler comprising a reservoir of an inhalable composition with an outlet at one end through which the inhalable composition is discharged. A non-metered breath-activated valve is provided between the one end and the reservoir, the breath-activated valve comprising a flow path extending from the reservoir to the outlet end. At least a portion of the flow path is a deformable tube. A clamping member pinches the deformable tube closed when no suction force is applied to the device and releases the tube to open the flow path when suction is applied at the outlet, to provide uninterrupted flow from the reservoir to the outlet.

  • Publication number: 20120138054
Abstract: An inhaler comprising a reservoir of an inhalable composition. A housing contains the reservoir and has an outlet end and an opposite end. A composition flow path for the flow of the composition extends from the reservoir along the flow path and out of a composition outlet at the outlet end of the housing. A flexible diaphragm within the housing defines an air flow path from an air inlet to an air outlet at the outlet end of the housing, the diaphragm extending past the air flow inlet towards the opposite end separating the air flow path on one side of the diaphragm from the remainder of the housing on the opposite side of the diaphragm.

  • Publication number: 20110315152
Abstract: A simulated cigarette device with a substantially cylindrical cigarette-like shape comprising a reservoir of a pressurised composition including an inhalable substance and a propellant. A refill valve is in communication with the reservoir via which the reservoir is refilled. A breath-activated valve selectively controls the flow through a reservoir outlet and hence through an inhaling outlet in the device. The size of the reservoir, the pressure within the reservoir and the size of the reservoir outlet at its narrowest point are arranged so that, when the breath-activated valve is fully opened, the reservoir will discharge in less than 30 seconds.
