  • Publication number: 20140094655
Abstract: An endoscope and methods of use thereof are provided, which includes at least one multi-functional extending arm supporting a plurality of imaging, lighting and other sensory elements. The arms provide a mounting platform upon which cameras, lights and sensors may be mounted to generate multiple-angled images and video, arena-like lighting and other data for performing a minimally-invasive surgical (MIS) procedure. The arms may be inserted through a single portal in the endoscope and extended outward in multiple directions from the single portal once inserted into a body cavity. The endoscope may also include support arms which support the extending arms within the body cavity and a stabilization plate which anchors the endoscope to an external surface of the body. An endoscopic tool with optical, lighting and other sensors integrated into a functional end is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6450948
Abstract: A steerable probe with a deflectable tip. In one embodiment, the probe may include a cannula having a proximal end and a distal end and extending along a length therebetween, an exterior surface, an interior surface defining a lumen, an elongate flexible section extending along a first portion of the length and having a section proximal end and a section distal end. A pull wire for deflecting the flexible section in a first direction in a preferred bending plane may be substantially embedded in the cannula between the interior surface and the exterior surface and extending from the section proximal end to the section distal end. The pull wire may be secured to the cannula adjacent to the section distal end and freely passing through the section proximal end. Two longitudinal strengthening members may be embedded in and extend along the flexible section generally opposite each other about the preferred bending plane.

  • Patent number: 6149019
Abstract: A Modular Library System, compact disc holder comprises a main housing unit with a lower plate, an upper plate, a pair of opposing side walls, and a rear wall. In addition, the main housing includes an inner retractable plate. Mounted on the inner retractable plate is an inner unit, with a turntable in between, allowing for 180 degree rotation when the inner retractable plate is fully extended. Accordingly, the retractable inner unit is comprised of a lower plate, an upper plate, a pair of opposing side walls, and two inner walls parallel to the opposing side walls. Housed within the inner unit are six individual smaller units, which have a series of elongated ribs, providing storage slots for CD's. Each of these six individual smaller units can be removed and relocated as desired. The dimensions of the compact disc housing unit were designed to fit into the bottom of most stereo rack systems, although it may stand alone, as well.

  • Patent number: 5855549
Abstract: A female urethroscope includes a detachable, disposable semi-flexible sheath for insertion into a female's urethra. The sheath is provided with plurality of channels. One of the channels may receive an endoscope for optical examination of an operative site within the urethra. The remaining channels may be used for suction, drainage, or irrigation of the operative site. The disposable sheath provides a significant improvement in the efficiency and sterility of internal surgical procedures, and is specifically sized and configured for comfortable use in the female's urethra. Further, the urethroscope includes an inflation medium for applying pressure to, and relieving such pressure from, the interior walls of the female's urethra. In a particular embodiment for use as a female urethroscope, the urethroscope has a tube-shaped member having an insertion portion dimensioned for comfortable insertion into a female patient's urethra.

  • Patent number: 5018909
Abstract: A powder feed hopper includes a housing which mounts a porous plate adapted to support particulate powder material and receive an upwardly directed flow of fluidizing air to form an air-entrained fluidized bed in the housing above the porous plate. In order to improve fluidization, a baffle plate is mounted beneath the porous plate in the path of the pressurized air discharged from one or more air nozzles to create a circulating flow of air-entrained particulate powder material within the fluidized bed in which the flow moves upwardly along the wall of the housing and then inwardly and downwardly toward the center of the porous plate. Additionally, stirrer blades are located immediately above the porous plate to create turbulence and reduce the formation of concentrated channels of air atop the porous plate.

  • Patent number: 4729340
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the powder coating of elongated articles such as wire and pipe is provided comprising a powder spray booth having a top, bottom and opposed spaced side and end sections. The opposed end sections are each provided with a plurality of spaced openings each formed to receive an elongated article. Partition means are disposed in the spaces between adjacent openings and extend longitudinally along the powder spray booth forming compartments therebetween in which such elongated articles individually travel and receive a powder coating from separate electrostatic spray guns.
