  • Patent number: 11388558
Abstract: In the event that a first user equipment (UE) device is unable to decode a packet received from a base station that provides Point-to-Multipoint (PTM) compatible services to UE devices within a service area (e.g., cell) of the base station, the first UE device transmits a request for retransmission of the packet. In one example, the request for retransmission is transmitted to one or more neighboring UE devices via a device-to-device (D2D) transmission. In response to the request for retransmission, one or more of the neighboring UE devices, which were able to successfully decode the same packet, retransmit the packet to the first UE device via a D2D communication link.

  • Publication number: 20220217802
Abstract: The methods, devices, and systems discussed herein define sidelink interface (e.g. PCS) states for a unicast connection between two wireless communication devices. A Sidelink-CONNECTED state is a sidelink interface state in which a first wireless communication device establishes and maintains a sidelink channel connection with a second wireless communication device. The first and second wireless communication devices can transmit sidelink unicast transmissions to each other over the sidelink channel connection while operating in the Sidelink-CONNECTED state. A non-Sidelink-CONNECTED state is a sidelink interface state other than the Sidelink-CONNECTED state. The first and second wireless communication devices transition from the Sidelink-CONNECTED state to the non-Sidelink-CONNECTED state upon the occurrence of a triggering event such as a Radio Link Failure.

  • Patent number: 11368929
Abstract: A set of neighboring base stations coordinate to simultaneously transmit a common resynchronization signal via a Common Synchronization Channel (CSCH). The common resynchronization signal is transmitted from the base stations utilizing a common sequence and a common set of time/frequency resources. A user equipment (UE) device receives the common resynchronization signals from a plurality of the base stations and combines the received common resynchronization signals. In some examples, the UE device coherently combines the received common resynchronization signals. Once the received signal strength of the combined received common resynchronization signals exceeds a threshold level, the UE device utilizes the combined received common resynchronization signals to obtain resynchronization.

  • Patent number: 11363615
Abstract: Communication equipment communicating in a licensed frequency band identifies unused unlicensed communication resources within an unlicensed frequency band. The communication equipment uses the identified unlicensed communication resources to communicate within the unlicensed frequency band. In some circumstances, the unused unlicensed communication resources are identified based on resource information received from a base station where the resource information identifies unlicensed communication resources that will be used by the base station. In other circumstances, the unused unlicensed communication resources are identified based on frequency band measurements of the unlicensed frequency band over an observation time duration longer than a sensing time duration used by unlicensed equipment using the unlicensed frequency band.

  • Patent number: 11356978
Abstract: A relay node receives a data block containing multiplexed data streams intended for multiple user equipment (UE) devices being served by the relay node. The relay node extracts the data streams from the data block and allocates them each to a separate narrowband channel that is associated with a particular UE device. The relay node repeatedly transmits the narrowband channels to the UE devices in a broadcast transmission that is transmitted for a predetermined number of repetitions. Each UE device decodes their own respective narrowband channel to obtain the data stream intended for the UE device associated with a particular narrowband channel. A feedback mechanism is utilized by the relay node to determine whether to retransmit a data packet or a new data packet in subsequent broadcast transmissions.

  • Patent number: 11337128
Abstract: A neighboring cell determines that uplink interference from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) exceeds a first threshold at the neighboring cell. The neighboring cell transmits an uplink interference indicator to the UAV. In some examples, the UAV informs its serving cell of the uplink interference experienced by the neighboring cell. The serving cell can utilize information received from the UAV to make handover decisions or scheduling decisions for the UAV that caused the uplink interference. In other examples, the UAV can temporarily refrain from transmitting on at least some of its uplink resources or utilize different uplink resources for uplink data transmissions. In still other examples, the UAV can utilize downlink measurements to select which neighboring base station System Information Block messages should be monitored for an uplink interference indicator.

  • Patent number: 11337191
Abstract: A serving base station allocates communication resources to be used by an aerial vehicle user equipment device (AV-UE) for uplink data transmissions. A neighboring base station is informed, via an air interface, of the communication resources that were allocated to the AV-UE. In some examples, the AV-UE retransmits scheduling assignment information, received from the serving base station, to the neighboring base station. In still other examples, the AV-UE transmits a sounding reference signal (SRS) to the neighboring base station. The neighboring base station can decode the retransmitted scheduling assignment information and/or the SRS to obtain information regarding the communication resources that have been allocated to the AV-UE for uplink data transmissions. The neighboring base station mitigates interference from the uplink data transmissions sent by the AV-UE.

  • Patent number: 11233586
Abstract: A downlink signal is received at an origination device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) device). In response to receiving the downlink signal, the origination device transmits an uplink signal to a signal forwarding device. The uplink signal received, at the signal forwarding device, from the origination device is a “received signal,” which contains a destination identifier. The signal forwarding device transmits a “forwarded signal” to a destination associated with the destination identifier. The “forwarded signal” is based on the contents of the “received signal” and/or any information that may be ascertained from the “received signal.” The received signal may also contain a downlink channel feedback report and/or an acknowledgment response. Based on the forwarded signal, a signal forwarding scheme may be selected.

  • Patent number: 11212711
Abstract: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) calculates an estimated uplink interference caused by the UAV at a neighboring cell based on a downlink signal received from the neighboring cell. Based on the estimated uplink interference, the UAV monitors downlink messages transmitted from the neighboring cell. If the uplink interference experienced by the neighboring cell exceeds an interference threshold, the neighboring cell transmits a downlink message, which includes an uplink interference indicator, to the UAV. Upon receipt of the uplink interference indicator, the UAV transmits a measurement report, including the uplink interference indicator, to the serving cell. In some cases, the serving cell transmits a handover command to the UAV based at least partially on the measurement report. The serving cell may also maintain a mobility history for the neighboring cell. The mobility history indicates a history of uplink interference problems and/or UAV handover availability for the neighboring cell.
