  • Patent number: 8066232
Abstract: A flat-screen monitor support comprises a body having means for attachment of a monitor thereto and a locking means operable to lock against a support post extending through the body and through the locking means. The locking means supports the body to prevent the body from sliding down the post under the weight of a monitor attached to the body. The body is rotatable relative to the locking means about an axis of a support post extending through the body and locking means, when the locking mechanism is locked to the support post. In addition, a support base for securing a flat-screen monitor support to a table surface, comprising a support post having a support plate secured to one end thereof, a seat cup to sit on a table surface and receive therein the support plate with the support post upstanding from the table surface, and a clamp bracket to sit on the support plate with a tightening means positionable against an underside of a table surface, to clamp the support plate, seat cup and table top together.

  • Patent number: 7703733
Abstract: A support for an electrical display device such as a monitor is disclosed. The support includes a pair of support members (2,3) connected by a pivot joint (4) to enable relative movement of the support members (2,3) about an axis of rotation, the joint (4) including an outer hub (11) mounted for rotation about the axis within a clamping member (5) attached to one support member (2), an inner hub (10) mounted to the other support member (3) coaxial with the outer hub (11) and being rotatable about the axis relative to the outer hub (11) in a first direction and, a clutch member (12) between the inner and outer hub (10,11) engageable in response to rotation of the inner hub (10) in the opposite direction such that the outer hub (11) rotates together with the inner hub (10) when a compressive force exerted on the outer hub (11) by the clamping member (5) is overcome. A universal joint (7) is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20100084527
Abstract: An assembly to attach a display device to a support includes a body attachable to a display device support and a mounting member to which a display device is mountable, the mounting member including a collar that defines an axis about which the mounting member is rotatable relative to the body, the collar having a curved inwardly facing seat, the assembly further comprising a biasing member and a resiliently deformable friction element on the body, the biasing member and the friction element being received in the collar with the mating surface facing the seat when the assembly is assembled such that, when the biasing member is moved in an axial direction into the friction element, the biasing member acts on the friction element and the friction element is resiliently deformed by the biasing member to urge its mating surface against the seat to increase the frictional force therebetween.
